Based on what I’m seeing today, I’m not so sure of that, tbh. Sure, but the money line speaks loudest. Can't say Rock isn't a draw. What's he drawing? Tickets are already almost sold out (as they are every week for TV without Dwayne's "help"), PPV doesn't exist anymore, sponsorships will have long been wrapped up. The only beneficiary here is Dwayne's massive ego

WWE's younger, more casual-leaning, less irony-poisoned audience f***ing looooves Cody, there's no 'vocal minority' here. People want to see this and in the end, the normie fan does care about the show they watch and want to enjoy it. This is getting backlash on all fronts, no noteworthy segment of wrestling fandom is happy about this. Seriously, just listen to any f***ing entrance Cody has... they go f***ing insane for him. He's by far the most over face they have, and considering how badly last years mania is booked that is truly impressive. If they keep jerking him around like this however, eventually hte crowds will stop caring about him because it become apparent no matter how much you like someone hte WWE aren't going to push them... it's happened hundreds of times in the past. Oh, I'm not saying Cody isn't over at all. But I don't think it's out of line to suggest that Rock can probably bring in even more money. People really need to tune out of tv if they really want them to pivot.

The only thing that could possibly make this worse is more Punk involvement.
If Cody pivots, and he should, he should make it about *HIS* decision, *HIS* journey.
Their one out they have for this is Cody saying he has had "council" over the past week. Have him say that council was with The Rock, who he wanted to hear out as his new boss, but after thinking it over realized that, no, that's not what he wants to do.
Have him say he's always had to forge his own path and successful did it by following his heart, so why stop listening to his own heart now?
He tells Roman the match is back on for them to go one on one at Wrestlemania.
Then, smash cut to The Rock watching from somewhere and The Rock going "Finally, he gets it! He's ready!" like Raiden in the Mortal Kombat movie.
------
Or something to that effect. It has to be ALL Cody if they want to rebound from this. This is CODY's story. Get "advice" from The Rock is an outlier, an unnatural deviation even before we get to the whole him giving up the match. Cody needs to return to the core narrative, "My story isn't about how I can destroy you, my story is about how I build my kingdom."

Night 1 - Rock/Roman & Cody/Seth
Night 2 - Cody beats the shit out of Roman with a rubber chicken until Okada walks out with a balloon, giving both Cody and Chicken fresh opponents

You would also need Rock to endorse Cody saying it’s his time to shine

Between Seth’s injury recovery timeline, Rock’s physical limitations after years of rust, and fan backlash I do kinda see a small window to a perfect storm where they have to pivot to a fatal 4 way winner take all. There’s even some seeds planted if they wanted with Roman and Seth’s shots at each other. Idk what they do for the other night main event though.
I think a lot of things would need to happen for that and it’s way worse than just doing Cody/Roman straight up, but when I thought about it I do think there’s a scenario where they go there.

The Rock: *singing* What can I say except, "You're welcome" (You're Welcome) for saving your little Mania card, Hey, it's okay, it's okay, "You're welcome" (You're welcome), taking over wasn't even that hard.

Judging by how hard this is getting buried, I wouldn't completely rule out another pivot. Monday they need to have a segment in which Punk tells Cody to stop being a bitch and tell Rock that if he thinks he can cut in line he can go to hell. Punk: if you don’t tell dwayne to go f*** himself cody i will literally choke out my second nepobaby in a calendar year

The only beneficiary here is Dwayne's massive ego Given Cody is the top merch seller Dwayne may even end up making less money. You'd have to imagine commemorative story complete shirts would sell like crazy. The possibility of a new and/or custom title belt, or weight belt. Action figure with his special attire. You get the point. Obviously Rock will sell merch but I don't think the same demand is there, especially from kids. Those that follow such things don't even have Rocky in the top 20, while Austin, nwo, dx etc stil sell well every year. www.cagesideseats.com/wwe/2023/11/14/23961158/wwe-top-sellers-2023-merchandise-cody-rhodes-roman-reigns-la-knight-john-cena-rhea-ripley

Watch The Rock have a "Rock Concert" in a few weeks to really stick it.
Heck, you know what.
Make it HEEL Hollywood Rock vs. Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania 40.

Here me out bro... Night 1 - Rock vs Roman Reigns. Roman smashes him. Night 2 - Cody vs Reigns. Cody wins. The guy who barely works is going to do two matches in two night?

He should sing that on raw. Then he gets sued by Perry Saturn who somehow retains the rights to the phrase "You're welcome" for wrestling purposes.

Here is another thing, what is Cody doing at WM? Everyone is acting like him vs. Seth is set in stone but that would neuter the EC. Plus they would have to explain how Rock got the title match.

Just watched that segment and it was BRUTAL. Cody looked absolutely dejected and after the Rock whispered in his ear he looked like he was about to cry. It was like Dwyane told him Pharoah had ran away from home and was never coming back. Dwayne probably whispered some horse crap like "It's your time Cody but your doing the right thing for business just like your father"
