This could well backfire on the company bigtime if they don't correct course immediately.
Dwayne Johnson joining the TKO board, as one of Vince's last acts, already bears some of the taint surrounding Vince's departure and may bring on questions about what Johnson knew of the whole kerfuffle and when. With Trips still in charge of creative, the sus-ness of the entire situation becomes more magnified.
The _last_ thing a company needs during its very public and seemingly very visible efforts to clean itself up are any manuevers that suggest it's not taking the matter seriously. Putting Dwayne potentially on the throne is going to reek of Dwayne being a proxy for Vince when Vince needs to be gone and seen to be gone without any prospect of returning. This is not a time to be yanking fans' chains here. Piling on fan frustrations will result in fans walking away. Give the fans what they want - Cody beating Roman - and don't go throwing more and more swerves in the way of that.

How old was Rock during Cena II, early 40s? He had major injuries due to his age and how many PEDs he must have been on making muscle too big for the surround tissue THEN.
Add almost 15 years & the man better be really careful.

He became bigger in SPITE of losing at last year's mania IMO. All this has proven to me is that almost nothing can stop Cody's ascension and they took his ass for granted. That was the worst part, people were still supporting him and ready to still see it despite slogging it out for another year and they still told everyone who was patient to f*** off. WWE putting smiles on peoples faces my f***ing ass lmfaoSeems like they're putting a smile on one guy's face.

This whole thing is just making me think of the absolutely goddamn brutal Rock birthday Raw where the whole show was an insufferable grinding chore and you’re like, “They have to be building to something,” and then no Rock poses and that’s the end of the episode.

There was a musical segment, wasn't there?

Seems like they're putting a smile on one guy's face. God that birthday raw was the most self indulgent crap, and people think he's not always been this way.

I just realized that WM40 will be held in the same city this happened.
This is stupid booking. I've said it so many times, I can't state it enough.

There’s no way that this happens, in Philly, with those fans. Maybe it’s a swerve and Rock aligns with Roman or something but no way does this go down as it sits right now.
It honestly would’ve been better to have Cody take a beat down, miss Mania and then come back to avenge himself at Summerslam if this is how they’re going to do it.

JESUS. F***ING. CHRIST. I know this allegedly isn't for any heat on Cody, but there's something maddening to me about how poorly executed the whole this is for Cody. Phrasing it like this, having the story go the way it is, every decision being made. It's all so atrociously unbelievably damaging and it seems like there's no thought being spared for presentation that does risk hurting Cody. Whether it will or not, it's a stupid move to play with fire this bad and have your website print shit like this. Everybody involved should know so much better.

But kind of the opposite roles this time. Rock being shoehorned in and shoved down our throats and Roman looking kind of irritated because of the response.

Yeah if they go through with this, then Rock is going to be the biggest heel at Mania. Roman will probably get cheered. I kinda want to see it now.

The whole situation really does just reek of, “We do not care about this guy. He is a disposable cog and his story means nothing,” which for your top face who you’ve been building a narrative around for two years is f***ing insane.

I guess if Rock wants to go even further he can summon:
Umaga Yokozuna Rosey Rocky Johnson Peter Maivia
Their new name?
The Deadline.

As an aside, if they didn’t treat John Cena like a complete loser, they may have somehow been able to work out Cena/Cody and Roman/Rock on the same weekend. That at least feels like two monster matches but they had Theory and Solo wreck him.

I think the increasing fan outrage and media coverage of said outrage and likely pressure from the roster and crew is gonna force a change of plans sooner rather than later. Obviously it's not going to be the simple, easy route is should have been but having it end with Cody walking out of WM with Roman's championship in his ownership should ease at least some of the ire.

Also something about him having only seven bucks in his pocket when he met baby Roman. That $7 story is not even accurate. JR gave him a 6-figure contract like a month after he finished with football. He got the 2nd biggest contract in WWE history (at the time) for a guy who had never worked a match (Mark Henry got more) When he was on the CFL practice squad, he made like $250 a week. I don’t doubt he was broke then.
