The promo for Lisa Frankenstein is unusual, but it's got the people talking.

I hope he has a soft collar neck brace handy because he might have a bad case of whiplash.

I love the "Rock is a big star why shouldn't he do that" because every moment WWE has had since The Rock last main evented sits as this really amazing case study in how, if you never actually let someone main event, they will never rise to the level of the stars you keep calling in to bump them out of their spot. Like, The Rock did not get so big because Hogan, Warrior, Savage, and Piper were all rushed in to take his place. He got so big from having big storylines and marquee matches against his contemporaries. By the time he had the match with Hogan, he was a multi-time world champion and had already starred in The Scorpion King. He was allowed to become a big star, and all these industry genius smart boys like Conrad who defend it don't really process that the fact that they can't get another Rock in a guy like Cody entirely because they keep doing this junk Definitely worth reading that Conrad Tweet in context, and the rest of his posts this weekend. His position on this is basically the opposite of what you're criticising. I try to avoid being subjected to more Conrad than I absolutely have to be, but fair enough.

There's no chance no matter how people react that they're changing plans even if WWE entirely wants to pivot, because that's Dwayne's decision and Dwayne's response is LALALALALALAIMNOTLISTENING. As I've said over the past 48 or so hours, Dwayne Johnson cares about one thing, and that's Dwayne Johnson's public perception. Even in the aftermath of his attempted takeover of DC, he still found a way to exit stage left in an effort to have the fewest scars on his persona. If The Rock is getting booed mercilessly at Thursday's press conference and the next time he appears on WWE television, it might actually cause him to change his tune. He knows he needs to seriously rehabilitate his image after everything that went down with DC and Black Adam. He thought returning to wrestling would do that, because wrestling fans have always welcomed him back with open arms. It clearly hasn't, so even something like making the WrestleMania XL main event a triple threat match would be seen as this magnanimous act of generosity and get him at least partially back in wrestling fans' good graces.

Vibe's settling in that they'll probably try to find some way to backtrack on this.
Problem is, again, damage is done. If this had been done any other way it'd be a simple matter of Cody coming out on Raw or SD and just saying "Hey, what the hell, I hadn't publicly made my choice, yet!", but instead you had Cody go out and introduce Rock, himself. You can't walk that back 100%, probably not even 50%, in kayfabe he willingly went out there and did that.

I try to avoid being subjected to more Conrad than I absolutely have to be, but fair enough. He’s actually been going after Rock pretty hard this weekend. I suspect it’d because his podcast empire’s running out of steam and he needs to put himself in the middle of stuff, but he’s been vocal.

The Rock is using the exact same playbook from the worst of the Cena times. "NOTHING LIKE THE PASSIONATE WWE UNIVERSE!"
Cole will be calling him 'controversial' if he bothers to show up before Mania.
Just insulting, gaslighting bullshit.

I think you could make it work if you maybe just run with the idea that he had a momentary lapse in confidence now that his goal was in his grasp, thinking about how it was yanked away last time, but now he's come to his senses. It's flimsy but Cody could sell it.

I think their idea with introducing using Cody was specifically to nip it in the bud as a"SEE ,CODY IS NOT GOING AFTER REIGNS,DONT EXPECT IT OR HIJACK IT". Which yeh, backfired tremendously

Somebody needs to drop a box on The Rock so he doesn't make it to WrestleMania:

I’m still of the belief they’ll just do what they want to make the TV show look like whatever they want. This is the first post-pandemic era issue where they can just pipe in crowd noise, tell everybody to f*** off and collect their checks.
Like yes, maybe they’ll change it up, but I won’t be surprised in the slightest if they just stay the course.

It's flimsy but Cody could sell it. And it would basically only be flimsy for one episode of TV's worth of material before they can ignore that this whole thing ever happened. It will still leave a mark - there will probably be a lasting perception that WWE/TKO is out of touch and that the Rock is an egomaniac. But just to throw out an example, nobody gave a damn about the Rock/Austin Mania X7 build having a weird three week period where the angle was about Debra before that aspect was dropped completely.
