To be honest I kind of wonder if Rock didn't end up making himself a much less desirable commodity to work with after how he acted in regards to Black Adam. The only in-production movie he has pending at the moment was filmed before Black Adam came out, he's not actually gotten any work since that whole mess.

It's also different being booed as a wrestling character as opposed to being rejected before you've even really done anything.
I'd also argue The Rock and Dwayne Johnson have never been so indistinguishable which adds another layer to it . Which is weird after he spent so long trying to separate the two.

It depends on where his ambitions lie, I guess. There's a lot of delusional action stars way more washed up and who are actually insane to work with, like say Seagal's penchant for injuring stuntmen, who can keep making movies and be complete ego monsters. But they toil away on smaller scale productions greenlit with modest expectations of their name bringing in X dollars or guaranteeing a distribution deal to get onto streaming services. Rock's not that far gone yet, obviously, but if he wants to stay on larger movies and keep his career momentum, that might be a sticking point if his behavior is leaving major studios disinterested.

Rock tried to change his character from 2003 to what, most of 2010 when he came back but it just didn't work. I just rewatched his 2008 induction and it was so different compared to current Rock. Once Fast Five dropped in 2011 (maybe a few months earlier with Faster) it felt like he was back to his WWE character except this time it was full-time.

I did it. I finally finished the story. I caught up to the end of the thread!
Now I know how the people who missed the initial 12 hours of the Muffin Scrum felt.

His failed coup of WB's DC studio certainly closed him out of any executive level job at a major studio like WB/Disney.

I wonder why he stopped trying to diversify from popcorn flicks. From what I remember, Gridiron Gang was pretty okay. Have people learned nothing? You make one for the wallet, one for the Academy, and then one because your friend says you owe him.

He's around the same age now as Arnold was at the turn of the millennium when he was in stuff like Eraser and The Sixth Day, when the doldrums got so bad he was looking at politics to get out of his rut. So the timeline is working out.

Well if the plan was for him to wrestle at mania (and maybe another event) it would make sense for him to clear the decks and not do any movie work so he can prepare himself and not have studios worried he was going to get injured mid shoot.

Lol Bryan Alvarez went on Observer Live just now and said that while it’s nice that Dave heard back in the day that Rock didn’t mind being booed, he obviously doesn’t want to come across bad now as a media figure. They're gonna end up putting each other in a headlock by the end of the week, I guarantee it WrestleMania 2000's main event had a McMahon in every corner, WreestleMania XL's main event is gonna have a wrestling journalist in every corner!

Sean Ross Sapp Dave Meltzer Then: Mike Johnson? Dave Scherer? Bryan Alverez? Denise Saucedo? Ryan Satin? Chris Van Vliet? Wade Keller? Ariel Helwani? John Pollock? Wade Keller? Bill Apter? There's definitely a lot to choose from for the last two slots.

They wouldnt be insane enough in putting the belt on Rocky in order to continue making people forget about the allegations right?
