Can someone please try and sell Rock / Roman without going, "Because they're related!" or, "Businessy business business"? Because I have yet to see a single explanation of how this match would even be watchable that hasn't leaned on one of those two things. There’s an interesting story to tell of Rock coming in at the elders request to try and dethrone Roman, who has lost all control. Feel like that would’ve been better for last year’s Mania though when it really was at a point where the family turmoil was at its peak. Honestly, even that makes no sense because they've never at any point established on screen that Rocky's even been involved in all of this shit. Have Rock show up once and be like "Roman, I've spoken with our family, and while we respect what you're doing...things are getting out of hand." f***, even just a pretend phone call with The Rock would help. It's kind of funny that this all started because Rocky tried to f*** up the DCU because this feels a lot like how DC dropped the ball in the first place. There's no world building at all, they're just jumping to a conclusion.

It would be a big main event, but I don't think it's even the biggest in Mania history. I'd still go with either Rock/Austin, Rock/Cena or even Rock/Hogan. I’d probably slot it in right after Rock/Austin at Mania X-7 and Andre/Hogan.

I assume that if they do go forward with a straight up Rock-Roman match that the family dynamics will be a key part of the buildup. Cody saying he wants to take everything from Roman before Rock came out to me implies that Rock is taking Roman’s “head of the table/tribal chief” deal away.

Rock & Roman's story is so long running and in depth you can fit it all into a gif.

I'd love it if at any point they did anything to tell us why any of it f***ing matters before they made the match. The fact that we all have to fill in the blanks on the story is kind of insane.

All this Young Rock erasure rn That show felt like a fever dream. "Wow Rock, you're so cool, sexy, badass, hilarious, and incredible. Would it be inappropriate if I groveled at your feet for a few hours?" The Rock, wistfully: "Ha ha ha. That brings me back to the first time I heard that from someone, the first of many. A certain wrestler told me that exact same thing, back to a long ago time...in 1997."

For reference, "My stance has changed," is what SRS tweeted right before Punk came back.

It's weird how much over the last 15 years they've antagonized and made fun of people for even watching.

Honestly, that was kind of one of the points where I started to think OK, this guy may be overestimating his appeal. He's a fun action star, I loved Rampage, I loved Skyscraper. I'm not sure he's good for anything beyond movies where I turn my brain off.

It makes plenty of sense story-wise. Roman divided the family for his own gain. The Rock ushered him in several years ago despite being booed and Roman turns around and brings shame to his own family. He claims to be the Head of the Table, but he's all about himself. The Rock has always been proud of his heritage and inducted Peter and Rocky into the HOF. Him wanting to come back and put an end to Roman's tyranny to show him what a true 'Head of the Table' should be is a good story that you can't just do with anybody due to the history involved. The major issue with all of this (that I do understand from your guys' point of view) is that it is at the expense of the other story they've been doing with Cody. WM40 being a big milestone Wrestlemania having a big match like Rock/Roman makes a lot of sense, but so does Cody/Roman. I just wish Cody won last year instead so we wouldn't be in this mess.
