Thinking about it more, this would all be worth it if Rock now has decided to turn heel because he wants to be f***ed up villains in movies. Like make a bee movie 2 where he's the guy who has his girlfriend stolen by an insect. Oppenheimer 2? Yes, surprisingly starring the rock.

Can someone please try and sell Rock / Roman without going, "Because they're related!" or, "Businessy business business"? Because I have yet to see a single explanation of how this match would even be watchable that hasn't leaned on one of those two things. I want to scream every time someone says "this story has been building for years" No it hasn't. They've been on camera together twice ever and not a single word has been said. And they're not even really related. In Samoan Culture, the Blood Brotherhood is taken extremely seriously, and to all extents and purposes, they are related.

Dwayne said some bullshit about hanging out with Cody when they were kids because Rocky Johnson and Dusty teamed up in Florida.
They teamed up in the 70s.
He might have hanged out with Dustin, Cody was born in 1985.
18 year old Dwayne wasn't hanging out with 5 year old Cody in 1990.

It would be a big main event, but I don't think it's even the biggest in Mania history. I'd still go with either Rock/Austin, Rock/Cena or even Rock/Hogan. I’d probably slot it in right after Rock/Austin at Mania X-7 and Andre/Hogan. I guess I'm old now because I forgot about Hogan/Andre which felt like a momunental event at the time. Rock/Roman should be good for the spectacle but I don't know if it's like an all-time dream match or anything. |

I'm just not sure WWE will want to resist keeping the belt on Roman for another few months to break "the Hogan record" and they've done several Survivor Series events in MSG before. In fact, 1996 and 2002 both happened at MSG on the same date. It's where Rock debuted. I wouldn't be surprised if they've got some plan that involves all three of these guys for that show. You might be right, though. |
