It actually was in the plan all along because in Doom (2005), Sarge (Dwayne Johnson) orders the squad to sanitize the entire facility. When Kid informs Sarge that he found, but refuses to kill, a group of survivors, Sarge executes Kid for insubordination, leading to a standoff with an armed Pinky. The group is suddenly attacked by creatures who kill Duke and drag Sarge and Pinky away. Reaper is wounded by a ricocheting bullet. To prevent him from bleeding to death, Sam injects her brother with the C24 serum. Reaper regains consciousness and finds his wounds have healed and that Sam has gone missing. Using his new C24 superhuman abilities, he fights his way through the facility, even battling a mutated and monstrous Pinky before finding an unconscious Sam with Sarge, who has become infected and has killed the group of survivors Kid had previously found. Reaper and Sarge battle, both of them enhanced with superhuman powers. Reaper is able to gain the upper hand and throws Sarge through the Ark back to Mars along with a grenade, which destroys Sarge and the Mars facility. Reaper then carries his unconscious sister into the elevator and rides back up to the ground level in Nevada. I'm not gonna fact check you, but I am gonna ask you on your honor, is any of this true? It's real and can hurt you and features Karl Urban

This shit is a mess, but I'm glad that Cody's in the right match at least. They definitely didn't plan this. Cody saying "but not Wrestlemania" clearly revealed what they WANTED to do. Now that line makes absolutely no f***ing sense, but whatever. Dumbest way to get to the correct outcome that I've ever seen.

I kinda want Cody to shoot on Rock's "wrestling royalty" family by pointing out that Rocky Johnson was a rapist and once tried to get a 12 year old girl to play strip poker with him... That would be an absolutely horrendous thing to do. Why on earth would you want to see that happen? Because rapists deserve to get called out constasntly rather than being ignored or put on pedestals. Rapists and sexual offenders in wrestling have been ignored for too long, and are still being ignored.

You could tell how much they didn't know what was going on until like Tuesdayish because of how Cole and Pat were talking about the Presser on RAW like if they cut the wrong wire they were going to blow up lmfao

Rapists and sexual offenders in wrestling have been ignored for too long, and are still being ignored. It's dragging the girl into it without her consent, yet again, and Rock isn't responsible for what Rocky Johnson did, same as how it's not Solo, Jacob, etc's fault that Umaga was a real piece of shit, or Tamina's dad being a murderer. Shooting a promo on that would be really careless.

How do you explain Cody saying he wasn’t going to fight Roman at mania? If he hadn’t said that things may have made a little more sense…Like he would need to be the biggest idiot in the world if he only just realised that he gave up his shot to the Rock because the Rock wanted a main event spot. A couple people have already responded, but I'll echo. Cody was going to step aside because Rock got to him with some Roman is disgracing my family shit and I want to shut him down and redeem the name. Tonight he realized that Rock only wanted the match to basically turn Mania into a Bloodline circle jerk and give even more power to the faction. I can’t really see how that makes Cody look great if the story is he was shocked that something involving the Bloodline was not going to end up making them even more powerful. He didn’t even let Rock really finish where he was going with what he was saying. Unless they show some secret footage of the Rock tricking Cody somehow I don’t buy that anything the Rock could have said would be worth Cody giving up a mania main event to finish his story.

I really can’t join in when people constantly rant on about “none of this was planned! It’s never planned! We fans fought back against the machine!” Like, I don’t *care*. I don’t have any emotional investment in proving the big bad powerful promotion wrong. They eventually settled on a good structure for Wrestlemania 30 and I’m satisfied so long as I’m left thinking Mania 40 was a solid show. Why does it come off to me like some wrestling fans think they’re on some team and they’ve got to score points off the bookers?

If she's lying, it's not like you're going to suffer Doom (2005) to find out I literally watched it for the first time a few months ago when it was airing on Anthem's zombie Fight Network and I can't describe how magical it was to watch that shit in-between phone sex ads and like 15 year old clips of Randy Couture saying YR WATCHIN FIGHT NETWORK

Shooting a promo on that would be really careless. Fair point. But Rocky Johnson's crimes are completely ignored by everybody. When he died, he got nothing but praise. Even a few days ago, Rock released a video praising his dad for helping build the industry. Rocky Johnson was a c*** of a man and should NOT be put on a pedastal or treated as wrestling royalty or an icon. And Rock isn't at fault for his dad's crimes, but he is at fault for not only ignoring them but spinning a complete false narrative about the man.

Fair enough, but it just urks me to no end that Rocky Johnson's crimes are glossed over and the man is still put on a pedastal as a wrestling icon and a man who built up the industry. He was a piece of shit, but nobody knows he is a piece of shit because everyone in the wrestling business just talks about how great he was. He was a piece of shit rapist and child groomer and should be treated like every other rapist and child groomer.

If nothing else, post-Mania, we should absolutely get an angle of Rock ordering what amounts to a wrestling version of a gangland-style execution on Roman after he loses the match to Cody. You could even justify why no one runs in to save him being because of all the evil shit he did as a heel. Then this is how you build towards a babyface Roman feuding with tyrannical Tribal Chief Rock.

They've gotten to the match the fans wanted, so I doubt they'll care to elaborate, but it would be good storytelling if they at least tried to explain why Cody stepped aside for Rock initially. Like, come up with a logical reason that doesn't make Cody look like a dope. I can't think of one, but from a story standpoint, it's hard to gloss over "...but not at WrestleMania" knowing where the story has gone now.
Regardless, as far as pivots go, this was done beautifully.

I'm going to guess the ending payoff is either Roman manages to piss Rock off enough to turn on him during the build, Cody gives Rock some big come to the light promo, or it turns out the whole thing is Cody and Rock playing the long game. Either way I'm relatively positive at this juncture that Mania ends with Rock helping Cody win the belt.
