Thing I hate about this is the potential to hurt Cody by not finishing the story. If you fail to complete the story soon enough eventually the casual fans lose interest.
For me personally this sucks. I rarely watch WWE but I do watch every segment with Cody and I was hoping to see him have his moment. I’ve earned a great deal of respect for him. Really hate this.
Almost feels like Lex Luger with getting a major push but never getting that moment. And yea I know Cody is way more over than Lex was.

All this for Rock to just lose. Honestly, I’m not too sure about that anymore. If the dude is selfish enough to ice Cody like this, I wouldn’t put it past him to win the title at Mania

It's funny when you think about it. Rock has been brought back to deflect away from the Vince news and to attempt to get some good press. Instead, they get mostly negative reactions from most of the fans. What would have given good press and been a feel good story, was the clean cut guy who does so many positive things for the company and fans finally winning the big one and making everyone happy. Idiots. I know Vince oversaw Cody's return in the first place but like, there's value to the diea of maybe crowning a new top guy in a new era, showing that things are moving ahead and soemone who famously had to go and carve his own path because WWE didn't think he had it might be a great story of WWE entering a new era. In fact, you can see fan favorite workrate guys taking titles at each 10th Wrestlemania; Bret, Benoit, Danielson. Cody may not be a 'workrate' guy, but he would still be on the verge of something massive and able to follow in that tradition. Nope, Rock.

I very rarely get enraged at anything wrestling related, but Cody has been my boy ever since he first left WWE and started popping up on the indies and this has pissed me off royally. I was lucky enough to meet him (in a supermarket of all places!) in Edinburgh when he was over here with ROH/NJPW with Hanger & the Bucks and he couldn't have been nicer. Supported him ever since and it sucks to see the big moment he's worked his ass off for go south due to the ego of an over the hill gimp. Noticed Rock was wearing a "People's Champ" shirt last night. The irony. There's only one People's Champ, and it ain't you Dwayne. Friendly reminder that DDP essentially had to stop calling himself "The People's Champ" when he came to WWE instead of him very rightfully wanting to play up a People's Champ vs People's Champ feud with The Rock... My buddies and I were so pumped at the prospect of that. Instead we got *that* feud with Taker.

Even if wwe think this is the best wm match why do it like this?
Do an injury angle. Cody is taken out my a mystery attacker, oh no who will face Roman now? Oh its The Rock! Yay.
Then it turns out Seth took out Cody because he's paranoid and stupid and thought Cody might challenge him. So Cody comes back a few weeks before wm and makes that nightmare come true.
It's still shit but at least Cody doesn't look a complete bitch and you don't break the mythology and internal logic of wrestlemania season.

I was on the fence about whether or not I was gonna watch Wrestlemania after such a lackluster and completely pointless Royal Rumble. The Rock just made that decision very easy for me. 2 years of build to “Finishing the story” thrown out the window because Dwayne

Putting all the other stuff aside and just concentrating on the match alone, the problem for me is that there's no outcome that interests me in Roman-Rock. Either the Roman title death march continues, likely for another year, or a 51-year-old having his first proper match in a decade wins it. Assuming he doesn't tear himself in half doing an Irish whip or something. It serves no purpose in boosting ticket sales, and it's an entirely selfish move on Rock's part as he continues to gulp down every ounce of his own Kool-Aid in recent years. It IS going to save me about 40 minutes watching WrestleMania, though,. Thanks WWE

“I want THAT belt. I will finish the story and take everything from you. Just not at wrestle mania”
So much vagueness
Does he cash in early? Did he just give his match to the rock? This promo makes no sense if he challenges Seth, and if he gave away his match, it also makes no sense

Cody - "Yay! I've won a gruelling match for the second time, now it's time to finish the story and finally end Romans Reign of Terror"
Rock - "That's nice Cody, now step aside as I'm going to be the one facing my cousin in Philadelphia and go face Seth instead for the consolation belt"
Cody - "Okie dokie Dwyane"
This absolutely sucks shit.

What’s annoying me most the more I think about this Cody situation is how they’ve done it. If rock wanted to face Roman it was going to happen even before he joined the board. So if there was a chance then as I’ve said don’t have Cody win the rumble and after literally point at Roman in the arena. You’ve made your most over babyface look like a complete idiot.

The crazy part is that according to rumor Vince’s old garbage booking/raping ass wanted Cody to win at last years Wrestlemania. Think about that. lol

I think that it was right as the sale was becoming official so Vince was minding his own business and not meddling in the booking.

According to the front page of F4W, a Gunther "championship anniversary celebration" segment is being advertised for Raw...
I wonder if Cody/Gunther is a legit possibility now.
I honestly wouldn't be opposed to the idea any other year, except for the fact the man just won the Royal Rumble. I know we have a historic reign, but Cody will essentially be Austin Theorying the Rumble title shot.
For as much as I'd love to see this match one day, I'd rather have a newer or less established star end the reign of the Ring General.
Who knows, really. It's theoretically one of the only ways Cody could maintain momentum but it still feels like a downgrade in spite of how made Gunther is.
