Someone said during the pre-show they were interviewing audience members on who was winning the main event

A young kid excitedly replied that Cody was winning because he was amazing and he believed in him

A dead eyed Adult Woman responded "It's gonna be Roman, it's always Roman"

The fans WWE are making and investing into the product just get slowly worn down over time when they constantly slap them in the face. Young fans actually excited about seeing a triumphant victory of a hero are just beaten over the head with stuff long time fans already know and expect, and it sucks. This was one of the easiest layups ever seen in wrestling, and they f***ed it up, and pissed everyone off, and likely have butchered Cody to the point he won't ever get the moment he was supposed to get or the reactions and support he had been getting ever again to that level.

WWE put smiles on peoples faces, just to literally rip them off of a persons face and smack it back on as a frown.

Unless you're Zack Snyder and you stick Ozymandias in the most evil outfit imaginable and have his actor play him in the most stereotypically gay-coded supervillain way possible, which is probably also how Vince would do it.

Watchmen was the movie that taught me that a word-for-word adaptation isn't a good adaptation.

(Yes, there are big changes. But the movie was already ruined by the delivery and presentation of every bit that was faithfully reproduced.)

That was one of the reasons given by people before Mania for why Sami should have been given the title match at Mania and not Cody. It was Sami’s story, Cody hasn’t struggled enough or had a long enough journey since coming back to get the title match.

I thought they went the right route with Cody toppling Roman at Mania instead of Sami and I would’ve booked Cody to win Sunday, but that was definitely something that was put out there before all of this happened and not just a post-Mania excuse.

It frustrates me how people who keep saying Cody needs to go through adversity overlook the most important details such as Cody being stuck in the midcard & dealing with the Stardust gimmick, plus having to venture outside WWE to reach the level he's at today. Then there's him getting injured after coming back which put him on the shelf for nearly a year. There's multiple layers of Cody going through adversity throughout the course of his pro wrestling career.
