WCW were setting North American wrestling attendance records in 1998 while sowing the seeds for what happened to them a couple of years later (flogging the NWO to death getting it overexposed, giving Hogan v Goldberg away on free tv etc). I see a lot of parallels with Roman's dominance and the nWo never truly having their definitive end (and limping along even after Starrcade). Make of that what you will. Even then Hogan did lose clean to Piper (though not for the title) and did briefly drop the title to Luger. So even before the Sting story took place there were moments of surprise euphoria for the good guys. It's a tough slope to because something I will concede Triple H said is it's about the right moment. It's tough to tell when that moment is. But at this point when you build to 3 moments that seem perfect, you are now relying on a surprise pop rather than what you had tonight especially. The crowd was electric and was ready to crown Cody. Like legit Cody winning would have been special. Can you build up another special moment? sure. But are you getting relief that something is done or excitement for the win?

I'm so old I remember last night when this was the greatest WrestleMania in the history of the world and nothing they could ever do in the future could possibly top it. Good point was brought up that ever since they split Mania up it feels like Night 1 is positively received and then Night 2 is generally shit on This one might be the most egregious given how badly of a dropped ball this was in the main event, but they really seem to lose their momentum when they go into the second night anymore.

If his ratings and ticket sales would go down he would be Booker of the Year according to Dave voters

Man, I’m not sure I’m as out on Cody as I was on Drew … but Drew absolutely died to me as a main eventer after Clash. We’ll see how I feel about Cody tomorrow, but right now he’s just a useless bitch like the rest of everyone Roman’s smashed. Drew fell off after Cardiff, and fell off HARD. Had an awful feud with Mr Carcass, got no payback on Solo and took the pin in the triple threat for the IC.

I'm so old I remember last night when this was the greatest WrestleMania in the history of the world and nothing they could ever do in the future could possibly top it. I dunno, real talk, I didn't enjoy much of any of it outside the two main events, was disappointed in the Usos losing and was surprised Roman retained. I like the Bloodline, what can I say? Tonight wasn't as good as last night, objectively, but I think they made the right call with Roman retaining. It's late, so by morning my notifications are likely to be lit up. I just watched the end of the Cultaholic reaction and I think they watched like everyone watched, slumped back in the chair, just waiting on Cody to win, kinda bored with everything because the result was so obvious and then it wasn't. If the product can't surprise you, that's wrong. I know a lot of people will say "Sometimes it's best to give the fans the expected result" and that's true, but sometimes it's not right. I'll watch tomorrow night's Raw, then I'll likely be done besides checking results and the occasional YouTube clip. The product doesn't bother me anymore, I realized about 20 years ago it wasn't targeted to me anymore and it took a while, but I let it go.

People might be taking the fake sporting events results a little too hard.

Feels like Hunter mixed up the booking notes on his legal pad with his copy of the Kama Sutra, and now he's going all out with the tantric booking, forgetting that even people doing the yab-yum eventually get to cross the finish line when the time arrives.

Deliberate misdirection from HHH here. I think they are settling Solo up to be the Batista to Roman's HHH.

The product doesn't bother me anymore, I realized about 20 years ago it wasn't targeted to me anymore and it took a while, but I let it go. I was very vocal all night about how bored I was between matches. Thought the matches were fine to good but felt tonight was a chore. I also said that aside from Brock, the IC title match, and Cody/Reigns that everybody who had a match tonight had to work extra hard to keep the crowd's attention. I've also said that I felt aside from the Bloodline angles that I felt this Mania was built awfully (got crap for that too). This doesn't ruin my opinion on the product because honestly aside from the Bloodline I felt that Raw and Smackdown have been very poorly written for awhile and that Triple for awhile was relying too heavily on bringing people back who got fired with no real plan. I'll still probably watch but it'll be peripheral

People might be taking the fake sporting events results a little too hard. I mean I was more joking but in the end one person books the company and they have a team behind them, they can say they're booking to a certain demo but in the end, we've seen what gets over, we've seen what fans want, and they just go "Eh" and do what they want... when you do that, it doesn't feel like you're satisfying anyone but yourself, and putting it behind a guise of "Oh well that's not the end, even though everything pointed to it being the end and maybe it should have been, see ya on RAW!" In the end they do what they wanna do, and tonight showed that in spades lol

No scenario where this ends with a Bloodline Member beating Roman is this a scenario I'm excited for, it really would just hold up a big neon sign that says "The Bloodline was the only thing that actually mattered for three years lol"

The only positive thing he's done is make the mid-card titles relevant and give Aliyah a title. His booking of the women's division has been embarrassing. He's ruined Butch. He's ruined Liv. He sucks.
