I've watched all in this series so far, but the trailer turned me off on it, and GvK felt like a nice 'end' point for me anyway.
But, glad to hear this is doing so well at the box office. Mainly because it means they could do more yet, which was very much up in the air.

Saw it last night, thought it was a pretty fun time. It's kind of funny to me that {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}if you want Godzilla in a Kong movie, he's kind of like Superman in a lot of Justice League stuff; he's around during the first couple of acts, but you need to build to his big appearance at the end, or risk a bunch of people saying "if he'd been there in the first place, he'd have solved everything already!" It was definitely more focused than Godzilla vs. Kong was; can't say its fight scenes were on the same level, since the way they did Mecha Godzilla in that one worked well, but the story flowed a lot better here, the editing didn't feel as choppy, etc. Still, it's interesting to see this series kind of divided between the earlier "there's still a lot of mystery to all of these creatures"/"these titans serve as allegories for (insert topic here" entries and now the current "the monsters are real, and we have to live with them, let's explore more of this weird ass world they inhabit and watch monster mashes at the end" approach. I kind of prefer the former, but they're giving it all they've got on the latter. Actually, if they keep moving forward with the latter approach, it'd kind of balance Toho going back to a more 1955-style approach to Godzilla, ala Shin Godzilla and Minus One. Toho would feel like they're doing more of the "kaiju as stand-ins for aspects of the human condition" style, while Legendary's going more for a PG-13 version of the old Showa era stuff.

Interesting point; the American series has ended up as the shared single world continuity adventures like Showa and Heisei, while the Japanese series has the Millennium approach of individual and therefore more unique productions.
They're kinda having their cake and eating it, especially since both are doing the business at the box office.

I saw it tonight. It was underwhelming. It wasn't bad, but was underwhelming. The final battle was more "that's it?" than "that was cool"

I just hope we get a more Godzilla focused movie in the future with a more established villain from Toho's library. SpaceGodzilla, Destroyah, Biolantte, just anything like that. Still wish them using the Oxygen Destroyer in KotM had been built up as more of a big deal than a throwaway fanservice scene.

This movie has some titan-sized flaws but its still one of the best movie theater experiences Ive had in a long while. See it in 4DX if you can.

A few more detailed thoughts {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}Kong using the tiny ape as a flail was f***ing hilarious. Best scene of the movie lol
Godzilla using the Colosseum as a dog basket was cute
Although I expected more from the final fight--I wasn't bored during the movie. I think the final fight could have done with a bit more double teaming from Kong and Godzilla. It's a dumb as f*** stupid movie. Just go dumb as f*** with it. I mean, we saw Godzilla spear Kong through a pyramid and suplex him lol. Let Godzilla and Kong do some crazy double-team shit. Like a 3D through a building or something.
Scar King was pretty forgettable and generic. He should have killed the little ginger ape to make us hate him.
Worst part was the humans--I think Jurassic Park/World is the ONLY monster movie that actually has memorable human characters. Every other monster-type movie, the humans are the worst and most forgettable bit.
I can't even remember the names of the ones here they were that dull, forgettable or outright annoying.
Long-necked Karen lady: rude and obnoxious
Conspiracy Guy: He wasn't really that funny and in recent years, conspiracy theorists have gone from fun and quirky to outright detestable and dangerous to me.
Ace Ventura - f*** that guy. I was begging for him to get squashed
The Deaf Girl - She was ... ok. Probably the best of the human characters.
But whenever they were on screen, I was just thinking "great, can get back to Kong and Godzilla now.
I actually think a Kong/Godzilla movie could work without humans. I mean--why not try it? Kong was emotive enough with his movements and facial expressions to tell a story without words. I was more engaged with him journeying through Hollow Earth than the other parts of the movie, and could easily have watched an hour and a half movie of Kong having an adventure fighting monsters in Hollow Earth with no dialogue.

It was probably the most entertaining wrestling movie of the year.
Time also flew by, which is something I can't say for many movies these days.
