It's part of the PR war as much as anything else. The fact that they haven't outright said "Look at what those greedy writers and actors are making us do!" via their trade press stooges is showing some remarkable restraint.

What is worse is that place like Australia and South East Asia, Disney is discontinuing their physical media and even their digital storefront media in hopes that these people will just subscribe to Disney+.

Anyone really serious about movies do not want altered versions of classic movies, such as the French Connection, to be the only option, no matter where you are from.

Yeah, that was inevitable.

I was mooching off my parents Netflix. I also mooch off their cable subscription to log in and watch USA, TNT, TBS for wrestling on those channels apps.

They are mooching off my Disney/HBO/Paramount/Peacock.

All of this certainly has me monitoring much more closely which streaming services I am actually using.

The WGA and the AMPTP have agreed to resume bargaining for a deal that could end the guild’s ongoing strike.

In a message to members Thursday, the guild said that Carol Lombardini, president of the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, “has asked the WGA Negotiating Committee to meet with AMPTP negotiators on Friday. We expect the AMPTP to provide responses to WGA proposals.”

“Our committee returns to the bargaining table ready to make a fair deal, knowing the unified WGA membership stands behind us and buoyed by the ongoing support of our union allies,” the guild said

Part of me wonders if between the price raises and the cutting down on password sharing Disney is actually deliberately trying to disincentive people using Disney+ due to how it seems to be cannibalizing their box office performance.

Unfortunately, it has worked to an extent that other streaming service (eventually all, IMO) are going to be doing it. I share Hulu with my parents and I'm prepared to get my own Hulu account in the next couple months.
