The rescue for movie theaters is a woman who said "f*** you for owning my songs, that's my work. So, I'm just gonna rerecord my old work, release it, and I'm the sole owner. You won't f*** me over anymore", and it doesn't strike the studios that something's there. And not only were they aware of all of that, they tried to lowball her. What outcome did they expect here?! I’m not even someone you’d consider a Swiftie but it still boggles my mind they were handed the easiest homerun of 2023 and they couldn’t even lift the bat to swing it!

I still love that this is the ultimate f*** you to studios. Taylor is making millions upon millions more than she would going with them and also signed an interim deal with the unions for the movie on top of it. It's win-win for both her and the unions.
I want to see her really rub it in their faces and have this extravagant red carpet premiere event with A-listers as opposed to the sad studio affairs with only influencers.

I love that every worker in Hollywood (except directors) is seizing this moment. I think outside of being sticks in the mud about how you do credits I’ve never heard of much about the Directors’ Guild (which unbelievably cost them George Lucas’s membership and prompted him to use foreign directors).

Welcome to Sean Penn Makes Good Points in the Worst Possible Way! It was sort of undone by the comment about the Will Smith slap where he right away thought to melt his Oscars for Ukrainian bullets which, considering his domestic abuse history, feels like the worst person possible to take a stand against it?

Welcome to Sean Penn Makes Good Points in the Worst Possible Way! Settle down, Sean.... you know there is this stereotype among the Hollywood Elite and well... this doesn't help quell those stereotypes.

Any of these mega rich CEOs could fix the whole damn thing in the snap of their fingers and not even feel it.
I'll gladly go decades with no new TV or movies if it means one of these f***s pays up.

Of all the examples in the world you could choose, Sean Penn chose that one. Nice to see he remains an absolutely trash person.

Picketing Barbie has arrived
EDIT: Also pointed out, Samara Weaving is behind her which is very funny. Especially if you are like me and seen them in both Neighbours and Home & Away.

We have our first late night host to cross the picket-line and it’s literally who you think it will be.

We have our first late night host to cross the picket-line and it’s literally who you think it will be. Well this was the one late night show I thought could do it without hiring scabs writers. Most of the show is just conversation anyway. And I am with Bill on this one thing, I sympathize with the writers, I am on their side, but also I understand people running out of patience, I want my Daily Show, my Late Show, even my SNL back, I need those shows back. And let's be real, entertainment is our playhouse, the writers and the actors they pale in comparison to real world problems. That being said, Real Time of late has become such a depressing show, often talking about how democracy is doomed, and that is with the writing.

At least Bill Maher isn't using scab writers. And that's the only nice thing I'll say about him lol.

And let's be real, entertainment is our playhouse, the writers and the actors they pale in comparison to real world problems. Besides the point that these people want to work, the studios are holding out for bo good reason and it’d be a more United front if Bill didn’t do his show and supported his writers and crew (because he can), we shouldn’t be ranking people who we should support because they aren’t “real world problems”. Taking it in a broad sense, a lot of people in those unions can’t have the work they do fully pay their rent and bills. In the same way A LOT of people globally can’t just have one job or one source of income to support themselves. All of it, in most cases, is being funneled into people who don’t put in that same work and the fact a lot of labor movements have been kicked off from this says that people are tired of being taken advantage of. Hey, I’d like more Last Week Tonight, but I also don’t want to hear stories about people who work on that show, a show that gets millions of views on YouTube and a big amount of ratings on HBO, are living in their cars and doing more gigs just to get by and don’t go to the hospital because they lack healthcare. Because that’s what’s happening right now.

That being said, I don't know if I am going to watch writer less Real Time, without the monologues and New Rules, it is just so depressing, all the talk of democracy is doomed. Last Week Tonight is similar with its depressing doomsday messages, but they cheer you up at the end, and besides John Oliver is funnier anyway.

It’s also rich coming from Bill Maher talking about how much he cares about his writers when he literally said they don’t deserve a living. If he cared about them, he’d be trying to get his bosses to knock off the incompetence and get back to the damn table.

Amazing the universe didn't end with them that close together. It’s also rich coming from Bill Hader talking about how much he cares about his writers when he literally said they don’t deserve a living. If he cared about them, he’d be trying to get his bosses to knock off the incompetence and get back to the damn table. What did Bill Hader do?

Nothing. I damaged Hader’s name for no good reason. But he also isn’t online to care so I hope my tears get to him. 😢 In all seriousness, Maher said that, not Hader.
