Just playing some catch up as I didn't see all of Dynamite last night, was this announced on the show? Is the new show officially announced or still speculation at this point? Yeah, the comms team announced it/brought it up. There wasn't any big TK comes to the ring thing. Other show is still speculation currently. But seems strong speculation so far Swerve pretty much gave away the fact fox is happening

Meltzer on Observer Radio laid out the what seems now obvious point about why the PPVs will be available at a discount on Max but not free with a subscription.
WBD is not in a position to be able to lose more money than the company already is as a whole. PPVs on Peacock has been a good success for WWE money wise, but it hasn’t exactly netted Peacock a lot of money. Doing it this way is attractive to WBD because they still can make more than just the subscription cost on PPVs.

Got the perfect shirt for Coachman and similar anti-AEW grifters who are totally not mad (they're laughing, actually) about this fantastic news:

Meltzer had a perfect line this morning to describe all of the grifters who were talking up AEW's demise all this time even up to and including and even after this new TV deal was signed: "When you're too smart to learn, you're dumb as shit."

A lot of the cost of PPVs is the provider charging a ton for it; if the cost of shows come down through Max and even with a subscription it's less money overall, that's still better as an option for consumers. Peacock tried to launch itself with WWE PPVs and that didn't pay off, in a deal that someone is losing money for, invariably. As cool as it'd be to have WWE PPVs for the cost of a streaming service with tons of other shit on it, it's worth keeping in mind that someone would have to lose money on that deal--not take less money, but like actually run a loss on the deal--and nobody wants to do that. We're not out of the streaming bubble or anything, but the post-pandemic fortunes have made clear that none of this was sustainable and a lot of companies are starting to run in to problems with it. We'll see in a couple years if WW tries to put the genie back in the bottle themselves over all of it. All of this shit is expensive and tons of what these companies are doing has been buoyed and subsidized by investment capital. Almost every player in this space is losing money and frankly it would hurt AEW if they were to get that kind of deal and end up finding their shit cut off by a panicked Zaslav when it's time to take a hatchet to their portfolio.

The fact that people are still twisting themselves in knots trying to sh*t on this deal is hilarious.
Meltzer calling in receipts was great too.

Cause oh boy, does that quote describe so many things in society today besides wrestling.

Disappointing effort from Coachman, gloating they didn't get money in the range they asked for only to be informed immediately they in fact...got money in the range they asked for.
Wonder if he'll try again and say "yeah, but it was 200 they really wanted and they couldn't get it so there!". f***ing crayon gobbler.

I'm curious to know if Rampage runs through the end of 2024 or if it's gone imminently? I'd like them to do a proper farewell show for Rampage.

Coach and these so-called math majors should probably learn from English majors that "upwards of $150 million" means "over $150 million" and not "up to $150 million."
