Random Twitter shitter: "Thurston said that Dave owns a share in AEW!!!" Bischoff: "It's absolutely true." Thurston: "I never said that. And it's not true at all." Bischoff: "Well, Thurston says it's not true so he won't get sued and go to jail."
This is peak delusion and confirmation bias. Bischoff's brain is officially broken by the AEW TV deal.

And with that clip we're now in territory of "It no longer matters what Bischoff believes". Like I feel like a clown for litigating the merits of clickbait counting as statements once it turned out Conrad is a dumbass liar and Bischoff said it on his podcast anyway, but like. Nah if this is a grift or if this is sincere, he's still going to show his ass this hard over a shitpost from a guy with 30 followers, he deserves to be laughed at for believing it even if he doesn't believe it, because he'd rather stake his claim on appearing to believe it than be honest. Somewhere, he's a liar, but any version of the truth is so unflattering that we should roll them all up.

Good. This is literally the only place I get wrestling news, so I have absolutely zero idea what other people might say about this but I can imagine there’ll be tons of “money mark”, “they’re overpaid”, “dead soon” style comments. I have no clue about the business of AEW but talent salaries going up would indicate to a layman like me that they are healthy, and thriving. So win-win for everyone, right? I've seen some people try to spin it as, "Paying the talent too much is bad, that and not the billion other things is what really killed WCW!" Y'know, as time goes on, for all his many sins, I'll give Eric Bischoff this; he made sure everyone got paid, for a lot of them even after WCW was finished. You never hear any stories about WCW owing guys money or missing paycheques or deliberately obfuscating money that was owed to them and putting them in positions where they had to hold the Booker up for money they were already owed. We can argue what was and wasn't wasteful spending all day but I'll at least give him his flowers for actually holding his end of the agreement.

To create a whole account just bashing AEW and spend so much of your day on that account is just sad.

So are ppvs gonna cost a fee on Max? Or be included monthly ? Not confirmed but the rumours say they will be an add on. So pay extra. They will still be providing ppvs through their usual method too

AEW isn't in the same boat as WCW. WCW was at the mercy of its corporate overlords since it was strictly a company owned by Time Warner (later AOL after that merger). Thus, they didn't receive whatever rights fees they may have wanted because the network could pay them basically whatever they wanted. Bischoff was actually far ahead of his time on this, but he was in the wrong place at the wrong time to make that ratings first mentality pay off. Anyway, now that this deal has been finalized I still can't understand why I should care how much money Tony Khan makes off the deal. The only part I cared about was PPVs on Max and it sounds like they will still cost some sort of actual additional rate, so to me the entire point of the deal I cared about is out the window. We'll see on the PPVs; it will almost undoubtedly be an added fee, but there's a good chance they'll be available for cheaper on Max than they are on regular PPV, fingers crossed. As for the rest, to outside observers it's less about how much Tony Khan makes and more about how much the wrestlers stand to make, and how that might alter the terrain of the industry moving forward. AEW being secure and now profitable opens up a lot of possibilities that might've been tougher to work out even just a few months ago.

The first time I saw the original post I couldn't stop laughing at how bad it was yet someone falling for it. Makes me wonder if its the same guy who had the twitter handle Rick Rude's Calves who started that silly rumor on a VP candidate lol

I saw WCW get driven in the ground, a large part of which was done by Eric Bischoff; and 25 years later, people are still trying to whitewash how shitty he was because he beat WWF for a year and a half when WWF was at it's worst. So, if this becomes a thread to bash a grifter like Bischoff, who pretends he was successful in wrestling(more than 25 years ago) and in the TV business (Hasn't done anything in the past decade, had nothing of note, well, ever), then so be it. He represents the worst, dishonest voice in pro wrestling, and that's saying something.

Exact money dollar figures don't mean a lot to me in the grand scheme of things, but AEW signing on for a big increase with its main television partner, and getting enough money from doing so for the company to finally run in the black, do matter to me from an existence standpoint. An AEW with a healthy deal is an AEW that can still produce its shows at the level they have been, and has the money pool to continue retaining and bringing in top talent. Those things matter to me as a fan not on their own merits, but for the subsequent things that come with those elements.

I really don't care about how much Tony Khan is making. But a healthy, profitable AEW is only a good thing for everyone in that level of the industry but WWE/TKO executives. And the fans, too.

Yeah, the Bischoff clips are just wild. He's pathetic. It scares me how many people are also just willing to go along and believe all of it.

Everyone involved in the wrestling business should be forced to take finance courses so that they don't have to resort to the podcast gifting circuit to pay the bills when their career is done.
Although I get the impression that for some of them, it's as much about clinging onto fame and notoriety as it is making some money.
