1) this either means he’s going to retire or he’s about to make a shocking return.
2) couldn’t help but laugh at OP reporting that docs say he shouldn’t return and then saying “I hope him and Cena have a match”. I know OP didn’t mean anything negative it’s just comical to me. 😂

If this is the end for Orton, then he has nothing to really still prove anyways, he can look back on a solid career, with a few minor missteps, but nonetheless a memorable run.
I actually think he'll be back, but even if he was 100% healthy, the point stands that he has nothing to prove he doesn't want to. He's entitled to a quality retirement if he ever chose to.
And I for one could live without ever seeing a Cena and Orton match ever again. Talk about a manufactured match up, whereas both guys had many other rivals that were better than each other.

If he's really at the end then he really has nothing to regret. He's had a hell of a run and went out at a point when he was red hot and helping to transfer that overness to someone new. ... That someone new is Riddle granted but I won't hold it against him.

It felt like he'd hit that spot where Brock is now, where he's achieved everything and so was just having fun with his character. A few more years of that would be most welcome, so it will be sad if this is the end. However, the man has had a stellar career with plenty of variety.

If this is the end, he had a decorated career, and the RK-Bro stuff was the most I'd enjoyed Orton's work in a while, along with his last heel run where he did the sickest, heinous things possible.

It’s possible that’s true, but Bob’s quote is a little less convincing than the headline:
“He's training, so we'll see what happens; I don't know. If he feels like he's ready to go back, I think he might, but again he's pretty well taken care of. I don't think he need [sic] to. And I think the doctors have told him not to. But Randy will do what Randy wants to do.”

Those two faced each other in almost every conceivable match type, and there is almost nothing they could do together that they haven't already done in ring. Orton - Cena Part lord knows what would be a waste of one of the few matches that Cena has left.

Would be a sad way to end his career, but at least he would be going out after doing some of his most entertaining work.

Riddle is taking the RKO within the next 2 weeks isn’t he?

That would suck if true but more likely Orton probably takes a few years off and tries to come back for one last run one year or something if he could
He's still only 43 so in theory could still give it one more run if he wanted to but if he's done, he has an amazing career to look back on without regrey

He should announce his retirement with an RNN Breaking News update.

The quote is tough because "doctors told him not to" could mean "hey man, you're 43 and this is only going to get worse if you keep going, so maybe you shouldn't, but it's on you" or it could also mean "one more bump could mean catastrophe."
In any event, dude had a storied career. Nothing to feel bad about.

Orton seems the type to want to quietly disappear instead of getting a big send-off.
If he did have a final match I'd love it to be with Cody

Orton seems the type to want to quietly disappear instead of getting a big send-off. I think he's old school enough to want to put someone over on the way out. The legend killer becoming a legend himself and then getting taken out by a new legend killer would've a good way to go. Especially as he'd actually be motivated.

The prospect of Randy’s career winding up makes me feel so old lol. Not sure why. Maybe cause we’ve seen dude go from a plucky babyface, cocky young “future” heel, evil heel, fan loved babyface, real life douche bag and mature chill sensible old guy all in the span of like 20 years.
Whether he retires or comes back, I’ve been an unabashed Randy fan since ‘08. One of the best careers, full-stop.

Any competent doctor should say “No” to the question “Should I wrestle again?” regardless of the wrestler’s health. It’s spending 10-20 minutes jumping onto wooden boards 200 times a year - and that’s the ones who work a safe style. It would be against the oaths they take to say “Yes” they probably give the same advice to stuntmen or people who jump in front of moving cars to sue the drivers.

Orton is younger than a lot of guys working the main roster today at being 43 years old. He probably should retire if his doctors are advising that but he also could afford to take another year or two off to give his body more time and revisit it later on and decide at 45 if he wants to do a retirement match or have an Edge like limited run.

Thing is, if Orton has had fusion surgery on his L5 (which I suspect he's had given the rumours that it was career ending), thats it. It doesn't matter how much time he gives his body, it isn't going to make that good as new.
