I'm solely making this thread cause I wanna talk about the Limp Bizkit song with Xzibit featured where Xzibit says this This song is literally from the exact year that the dot com bubble burst and was probably written/recorded before that even happened so now I'm just imaging Fred Durst and Xzibit getting absolutely wiped out by the stock market f***ing screaming on the trade floor. Do you think they sold or did they hold tight and become tech billionaires

That most TV and radio stations are oblivious that throughout the song Unbelievable by EMF there is someone saying “what the f***”.
In 1982, the then Pope visited the UK. It was a big deal as it was the first time a ruling Pope had visited for ages (and wouldn’t happen again for years after). The #1 song in the UK charts when he was here? House of Fun by Madness. A song about contraceptives.

While Jefferson Airplane's "White Rabbit" wasn't entirely about using drugs as people thought (it doubled as being genuinely about Alice in Wonderland and Alice being her own hero instead of a damsel in distress), the enigmatic nature of the song's lyrics allowed it to sneak drug use references past radio station censors.

That most TV and radio stations are oblivious that throughout the song Unbelievable by EMF there is someone saying “what the f***”. Along those lines, there's a part of Crank Dat Soulja Boy towards the end of the first verse where it sounds like he's saying the exclamation "Go f*** yourself!" but in the Greek language. It's hilarious to hear that song in the car with my Greek parents and them asking "Wait, WHAT did he just say?"

That time the Sex Pistols and Queen were making News Of The World and Never Mind The Bollocks at the same studio and a stoned Sid Vicious tried to start shit with Freddie Mercury by sneering at his ballet fandom and then Freddie just smugly called him “Sid Ferocious” and meanwhile Johnny Rotten was actually a big Queen fan.

Van Halen requesting bowls of M&M's with the brown ones removed wasn't done out of vanity. It was a clever way of making sure the promoter had actually read the rider, and that their stage could handle the technical requirements of the band's show.

In 1974, Aerosmith was renegotiating their deal. The first album sold ok, but not amazing. Their management said “Look, in 20 years, give us the masters. It’ll be 1994. Aerosmith will be long gone, I’ll be gone, you’ll be gone. Who is gonna care?” The record company said “That makes total sense”. That’s Aerosmith became the first band ever to own their own masters. Taylor Swift just had a huge issue over this. Aerosmith said “without the masters, you have nothing”.

Limp Bizkit & My Chemical Romance both had U.K. number 1 singles. Still feels weird that this actually happened.

The television series "Makin' It", starring David Naughton ("An American Werewolf In London"), was on the air for 9 episodes before it was pulled.
The theme song for the television series "Makin' It", performed by David Naughton, was on the Billboard Top 40 Dance chart for twice as long. And it was on the soundtrack for the movie "Meatballs".

That after 23 years, Hammer still hasn't hurt em.
I live each day with the uncertainty that one day, Hammer could hurt em.

French Kissing in the USA by Debbie Harry was written by the same person as the TMNT theme, who went in to create Two and a half men.

In 1993, SWV released a remix of their single “Right Here” featuring a sample from Michael Jackson’s “Human Nature.”
The song was featured on the Free Willy OST and it reached No. 2 on Billboard.
At one point in the song, somebody can be heard chanting “S-W-V” repeatedly.
That person? A 19-year-old Pharrell Williams making his first ever appearance on a song.

Commercial Radio stations have only just stopped playing "Fairy Tale in New york" by the Pogues and Kirsty Macoll around Christmas Time... Guess they only just realised they weren't singing about Meatballs.
