The problem the storyline is having is, they didn't have a conclusion booked before they started. When they started the MegaPowers, Vince knew Hogan v. Macho was Mania 5. So you could tick boxes all along. The surviving members of the family should have been involved ages ago, but it didn't happen, except the Rock. It seems like they've been dangling this along, hoping to get the Rock for well over a year. I'm still enjoying it, but that's because I know well enough to not torture myself by watching every week. No, the problem is that they DO have an endgame in mind, but they'll never get it, but they're still refusing to believe that they can't make it eventually happen. They want Roman vs. Rock for the Titles. That's the endgame they want. They've been chasing it for 2 years now, and rumors have been planted that they're STILL chasing it for WM 40. And all because Rock is too soft-hearted to tell them that it won't ever happen. It’s not a plan if everyone isn’t on board, it’s just wishful thinking. For instance, I still plan on winning the Stanley Cup with Wayne Gretzky. But for Roman, it doesn’t matter because the fans just want to see someone else carry a title. Mainly Cody. Wouldn’t Brock v. Cody be so much better if Cody hauled the belt to the ring??? That’s why WWE doesn’t listen to the fans, because they just want to see how people would look wearing a title.

It’s such a good unexpected twist that Jimmy pulled the trigger. Not on accident or whatever. He pulled up and hit Roman between the eyes. What's great is that it's not the first time despite conditioning us that he was the quiet 'unimportant' one. Remember, he was the first one to actually get along with Sami when Jey hated him. They even had the handshake. When Sami betrayed the Bloodline by hitting Roman, Jimmy was the first to hit him with a superkick. The focus was on Jey, but Jimmy looked just as crushed before realizing what he had to do. He didn't hesitate then and didn't hesitate now when Roman disrespected and cornered them. He's probably agreed with everything Sami's been saying for a while but had the tag titles and the family's loyalty to uphold. Once Roman insulted them and laid his hands on them, it was over and he wasn't going to wait on Jey anymore.

The actual main story beats have been way more hit than miss, just trim a year of the fluff and you'd have a legit all-timer storyline. Hell, that might still be the case, but the initial reaction at the end will be relief more than anything.

He’s still the scared Jey that started this whole thing off.

Let it be said that the Bloodline is finally crumbling, because of Sami f***ing Zayn, baybay.
Sami gave them the biggest win as a team when he won War Games for them. That made Jey believe in Sami, and have Sami's back. At Royal Rumble, Sami blasted Roman with a chair and Jey left, putting some doubt in Jey's mind and increasing Roman's paranoia. Sami tries to tell the Usos that Roman doesn't give a shit about them, all while Roman is counting on Solo more. At Mania, Sami and KO slay the Usos. That pisses Roman off, he becomes more dependent on Solo and starts to ice out the Usos. The rematch happens, and Sami and KO win, and Jey knows what's gonna happen. We get Roman insulting the Usos more and more, getting more paranoid, and more abusive. Roman and Solo get the match, and the trigger is finally pulled. Jimmy's done with Roman, Jey's conflicted but will no doubt have his brother's back, and Roman knows that there's only Solo left, and at any moment Solo could drop his ass.
Sami Zayn really is the cause of the Bloodline crumbling.

Or, get this - maybe, just maybe, the fans wanted to see Cody win against Roman at 'mania because they like Cody Rhodes and think hes a great wrestler. Maybe the fans wanted to see a popular face win after literally years of bottle jobs. Or maybe because they were tired of having evil on top for years and wanted a good guy on top. And there is an actual, understandable reason for wanting the title involved in the feud between Rhodes and Lesnar, because it gives Beastie Boy a much better reason for going after Cody. The only reason people want to see Cody is because of how he would look wearing a title? Stop talking Bollocks.

Also, one thing that got forgot, Jimmy never joined the Bloodline for Roman, he joined to try to make Jey's life easier. When Jey didn't know if he was going to stay in the Bloodline, Jimmy would cover for him and say he hadn't seen him. Jimmy's loyalty was always Jey, not Roman.

When Cena bounced off the ropes backwards and into a Stunner, it was the stupidest move ever. Now it’s the Cody Cutter!!!!!! Cody is a fine wrestler but he’s not a main event act and when he gets there and he will, I’m standing by he’s going to get exposed and the fans will turn.

This is why it worked so well for me too. Jey doing it would have thematically made sense, but Jimmy doing it makes a TON of sense for all the reasons that have been said. And while it has been dragged out too long, now that we're here, it's subverting expectations, but also building off of story beats going on for years (with a lot of zzzzz in between them until recently ), but important story beats nonetheless. Wish it had happened at WM to get the crowd pop THEN, but hey at least we're going somewhere. Finally.

The NOC angle was really good and I did enjoy it. I didn’t feel that immediate visceral reaction of the Rumble or Elimination Chamber though. Doesn’t mean anything other than that’s how hot it was at the time and they had the absolute right people involved. What’s going on now could probably be done without Roman being champ. The 1000 day celebration should be good though.
We should also take bets on who Heyman leeches into next after the Bloodline collapses. Wouldn’t be surprised if Imperium gets stuck with this dude. They don’t need him but Paul has a way of finding himself with the hottest acts. Either that or Brock again. 😂

I love long-term storytelling and a lot of what they're doing here is fantastic but there is such a thing as dragging a story on for too long. It's hard to call what they've been doing long term storytelling though... as like there hasn't been any story telling... baically we've had like 3 chapters stretched over 1000 days ... Oh yeah, that's what I mean. If you tell this story over a year or so, I think it would be one of the best ever. Instead, it feels dragged out with hints of incredible moments throughout.

Like, name me the last guy who sold out all his merch before a Big 4 event to the point they needed to get more in? And then have that happen again the night after said guy won the Rumble? That’s a guy you’d want to get the rocket on ASAP. And props to him being still over regardless but that could change in a heartbeat, which is why in the world of pro wrestling, you in theory capitalize on that stuff as soon as possible. EDIT: Like, frankly, with how over he is everywhere, the place to do the match is SummerSlam but they seem adamant to continue the Brock feud until then so who knows?

So I guess he takes on both the Usos and Solo until then

Boom, that’s your main event for whatever international PLE happens in September.

They seem very worried fans will turn on him if he won too soon Which is surreal when, for the first time since John Cena, they gave you every sign that they wouldn’t.

I know he didn’t get pinned but seeing Roman lose a match and looked pissed off about it made me very satisfied. Thankfully WWE didn’t go for the misery booking this time and gave the fans some hope for once.
