I'm still confused as to why we're wasting tourney spots on Goto, Yoshi-Hashi, Yano, and Chase Owens. Ah Goto and Hashi have earnt it from their tag runs but I would drop Owens, Yano, KENTA, Nichols, Haste, Hikuleo, Kidd and Coughlin in a heartbeat |

The lack of Lance Archer is disappointing, but I get that they have a good chunk of new people in this one, along with some like Tanga Loa that haven't gotten into one in a while. Plus, yeah, Tanga is definitely the weakest of his brothers, but it'll be interesting if he pulls any surprises. Archer has a triceps injury. |

A few thoughts.
1: I'm super glad to see NJPW is starting to move away from the super forced 30+ minute classic main event matches. It makes the longer matches feel more special when they're not every night.
2: What took them so long to make Sanada a charismatic main event babyface? He's been glowing in this role.
3: I love all the young talent getting the shot at it this year. This will be a great first test for them all as singles stars.
4: Prick Okada is best Okada.
5: I can't WAIT to see Eddie's first G1 run!

Yeah, I have to add that actually, I complained about some of the "obvious losers" getting in, but man, Kingston is one of my all-time favorite guys, and him getting a G1 run must be a "bucket list" thing for him, I can't wait to see how he does. Him vs. Ishii and him vs. Shingo are gonna be sleeper matches for this tourney, I'm putting my money there now.

Genuinely more interested for this G1 (and New Japan to be fair) than I have been for some time. Good to have a large number of newcomers, and I anticipate the eventual Okada/Kaito match furthering their angle. Plenty of Bullet Club involvement too, one of the more interesting angles they’ve got going right now.

I assume the favorites would be SANADA, Kaito, Okada, Ospreay, Shingo, Finlay, ZSJ, Naito as the top two in their respective blocks, but that feels like chalk so maybe a curveball somewhere. I wouldn't be surprised to see Tsuji make it through.

The disrespect on Goto is always crazy and YOSHI-HASHI has really been a different wrestler the last two years
Yano is a night off guy like he's always been but this is probably one of his last ones. Chase Owens, yeah he can kick rocks
SANADA got some heavy lifting in his block with a lot of them making their debuts in G1
Shingo is my pick for Winner with Naito being a dark horse. Shingo has just been biding his time since he lost the IWGP title so he's def due for it back tho with Ospreay back healthy I think he's the favorite since it looked like he was going to beat Okada before the injury
