AEW can breathe a sigh of relief. Well, for now. Since USA fully won’t have Raw, we’re basically waiting for the shoe to drop on the NBA deals and whether WBD is interested in keeping all it has or not.

Wow this came out of the blue. Thankfully I have Netflix for now but it’s not a subscription I keep regularly. That might have to change but I don’t watch Raw weekly atm 3 hours is too much.

That was my takeaway from this: Raw's structure from this point onwards. I mean, do they even need to still be a 3 hour show now either (probably will stay that way but there is some wiggle room now) That's a good point. The 3rd hour was a USA thing, because WWE raised their ratings, and WWE wasn't gonna say no to free money. Is it gonna go back to 2 hours and 10 minutes (give room for an overrun)? I’ve long hated the 3 hour format so that would be a good thing to come of this deal if they decide to go that route. After 3hrs there’s just no feeling of “oh man I have to watch next week to see what happens”

It does seem like it. It’s a stealthy way of saying “a lot of international deals are ending this year and either the deals weren’t renewed or they were outbid throughly by Netflix”. On one hand it may make the idea of cutting cable in the house easier as I won’t need to subscribe through television to get our version of the network. On the other hand, there’s a chance that all the old content won’t be available to stream through Netflix. I’m not basing this off anything but I think Netflix will want to hype as much as it can internationally, especially since everything will still be on Peacock in the US for the time being. Feels like getting WWE and everything included (and that documentary it’s doing on Vince) will basically be pushed all to hell in 2025.

Raw is going to Netflix ? Well that came out of left field and it sounds like the international WWE network will be moving there also, if I read the statement right. Which I’d be okay with honestly. One less app to have.

Yes but I think the worst case scenario was "WBD gets WWE and doesn't move forward with AEW" whereas the worst case scenario now seems to be WBD makes an offer that's lower than they would like. Also WWE going to Netflix keeps some of the other suitors they had in play if they are still interested in a wrestling product.

But if Raw is on Netflix, Joe Internet won't be able to bloviate about "what's working" based on quarter hours anymore.

Hopefully Netflix will require more of the back catalog uploaded when they get everything. I still want the rest of the 90s WCW Saturday Nights! Along with Power Hour, Worldwide, and Main Event.

RAW (Netflix): $400-500 million/year for 5-10 years SmackDown (USA): $280 million/year for 5 years NXT (CW): At least $30 million/year for 5 years That’s a lot of f***in’ money on people fake fighting in their underwear. And this is all for individual brands not just the one show. They have cashed out and maximized their shows to the fullest to get separate bags for each The talent gonna wrestle in Top Hats & Monocles.

Oh, the Hausman scenario, yeah, that would be understandable as something.

Maybe some of that funding will go into increasing a team to make that happen? Who even knows, with Netflix it’s either all in or a hearty shrug and “I guess that’s fine”. But if they are paying as much as they are, seems to be more of the latter?

The USA deal was originally supposed to end in the fall so I imagine they worked out a deal to extend it to the end of the year.

Peacock is basically a dead issue once WWE leaves.

I’m super curious now what happened to the Amazon Prime deal. Especially as someone said to me, HHH and Jeff Bezos have been spotted with each other at events, it seemed like a surefire deal at the end of last year.
