Just saw on PW Insider that the deal is for 10 years, but Netflix can break the contract at the 5-year mark if they choose to do so or extend it for 10 more years.

Well, if Nerflix takes over the UK rights AND has all the content of the Network, essentially becoming ehat Peacock is in the US now, that's cool.
I can just cancel the Network and re-sub to Netflix. Break even.
Will look forward to seeing how this develops, but was really hoping it would be Amazon as that may have actually saved me money.

But can they afford Okada?!?!?! They can afford about 300 Okada’s between all of their media rights deals

For those curious, Peacock has WWE Network and PLEs until 2026 so it won’t be like a lot of that content will be on Netflix Day 1, just internationally. But it will be interesting to see if Netflix bids for those or Peacock does everything in their power to at least keep that.

I had a feeling USA Network wasn’t going to renew Raw since it was rumored they were pursuing NBA rights

I don't see any downside to these deals for WWE other then personally I don't have Netflix and I don't plan on getting it so I'll be watching RAW... Other ways, probably lol
Is there no word on when Smackdown is going to air day wise? Is it staying on Fridays on USA? I'm curious if it's gonna move to Tuesday again or if NXT's gonna stay on Tuesdays with the CW
Overall this is a pretty seismic shift in wrestling viewing, I'm more curious what it might mean for AEW too, if any of their shows might change nights or how their deals might go after the NBA disputes
Insane news regardless, never thought I'd see Monday Night RAW go to Netflix of all places...

Can all the wrestling companies get on streaming so that we can finally end any and all ratings discussions? Too late for that now that Netflix releases quarterly streaming numbers per their SAG contract.

I had a feeling USA Network wasn’t going to renew Raw since it was rumored they were pursuing NBA rights It also basically helped that case that WBD’s been pretty quiet about how those talks are progressing and with their exclusivity window ending in April, we’re going to have a big bidding war for those. So the stalling basically let Netflix swoop in.

But can they afford Okada?!?!?! I don't think it was ever a matter of affording Okada, it was if they were gonna PAY for Okada, or overspend for him if need be. Which like yeah they should but it's never been a matter of WWE flaunting the cash for a talent, it's their interest to flaunt it.

Technically those are only internally to the union, I believe, so it’s not like we’re going to be knowing the blow by blow in the same way. Just that the show’s been watched a lot. EDIT: Also because it’s a non-union show, that wouldn’t be as much of a factor.

So what I understand is
- RAW stays on Monday but on Netflix
- Smackdown to USA, day unknown
- NXT to CW, day still unknown?

Does this mean 10 more years from the 5 year mark for 15 years total or does it mean 20 years total? I got to think the yearly price jumps a good amount if more years are added. Other than the TNN/Spike break, I've been so used to watching Prime Time Wrestling/Raw on USA that this is a bit of a shock to the system. I guess there will be some months I just don't have it because I'm not going to subscribe to Netflix every single month.

Interesting move. I'm done predicting what's going to happen in this space, because it's always changing, but I'll be curious to see what this does to their viewership. The NFL lost about 25-30% of the viewers they otherwise would have had for the Peacock Chiefs/Dolphins playoff game had it been on NBC. However, the average age of the audience was younger. Raw has an old audience. WWE could lose a big portion of their total viewership, but if it skews younger, maybe they won't care.
I also wonder what affect streaming have on the long term viability of these entertainment brands. I feel like it's going to be harder to get new viewers when it's behind a paywall. Or the friction will make it so that only the hardcore fans will watch a particular piece of content. The NFL moved Thursday Night Football to streaming. It gets 11 million viewers a week. It used to get 16 million when it was on Fox or NBC. That's 5 million real people who have decided to find something else to do on their Thursday Nights and I suspect they won't be coming back. That dip could be even more dramatic for Raw with the age of their audience and the average viewer might not be as fanatical about seeing Raw as an NFL fan is seeing a live NFL game. WWE can't turn down that kind of cash, but are you creating an environment where you are choking off how many fans you're going to have 10 or 20 years from now?
And lastly, for me personally, I'm not a fan of the move. If Raw stays on Mondays, there is almost no chance I'll watch it live in the fall. Even with a voice command Roku, switching apps is a pain in the ass. Switching from Monday Night Football to Raw and back to MNF to see what's going on would likely take the entirely of the 90 second MNF commercial break - just to check in on Raw for 30 seconds or less. I'm sure you could watch Raw in the archive, but my DVRed episodes of Collision almost never get watched before they're deleted. I suspect I just wouldn't watch. I only speak for myself, but I'd be curious to see how this changes the viewing habits of others - if at all.

Jesus this is going to make Netflix un-f***ing-usable now with the amount of this content that will show up Netflix is going to need literally an entirely different infrastructure and user interface to quarantine off WWE and how it worksi f they want to keep their service from completely faklling apart from the sheer output WWE offers. Especially internationally if they're serving all WWE content.

I’m super curious now what happened to the Amazon Prime deal. Especially as someone said to me, HHH and Jeff Bezos have been spotted with each other at events, it seemed like a surefire deal at the end of last year. Could they be a dark horse for the NBA rights? People were so annoyed about the NFL playoff game on Peacock exclusively. That's going to become the norm in the next few years.
