I look forward to getting my Raw DVD envelope in the mail each week. WWE and Netflix presents: The Self Destruction of The Peacock Network. Includes full DVD commentary with Reed Hastings(coming back from retirement), Nick Khan, Dwayne Johnson, and CM Punk.

Jesus this is going to make Netflix un-f***ing-usable now with the amount of this content that will show up Netflix is going to need literally an entirely different infrastructure and user interface to quarantine off WWE and how it worksi f they want to keep their service from completely faklling apart from the sheer output WWE offers. Especially internationally if they're serving all WWE content. Peacock kind of has the WWE content sectioned off in its own little world, I wouldn't be shocked if that's what happens here.

I watched that stupid OVW documentary so my recommended viewing is going to be every single f***ing show they do

Honestly feels like the sort of thing that’ll make their easier to access long term. Especially in between this and the sports deals they’re doing with Golf and F1.

This is probably good news for the industry as a whole. I wouldn't be shocked if smaller streamers decided to start trying to pick up wrestling content if this goes well for Netflix.

I wonder if WWE finds a way to do some sort of special on Netflix in December as a test?

Cant wait for the One Piece WWE Crossover. Here I thought them uploading the Egghead arc before they'd even upload the post time skip stuff was the oddest thing Netflix would do this year.

Paul should hire Dolph Ziggler back so he can go have a special Netflix stand-up comedy special.

CW’s been pretty open about wanting more wrestling content even though they got Raw and are airing that NWA documentary so could open the floodgates somewhat for that to actually come to fruition.

CNBC is talking about it. Big day for Netflix, as the company also reports its earnings today.

First thought: Ewww. This feels weird and I don't like it.
Second thought: Well, maybe I'll watch more Raw now since I dropped cable in my room.
Third Thought: TK and WBD better be putting together a deal to move Collision to Mondays in 2025. People will watch.
Also Smackdown is undeniably the top show now. .

It's pretty smart that they've got deals with 3 networks. Can't put all your eggs in one basket. That's an invitation for trouble

Man, as a marketing move, announcing the Netflix deal minutes after you announce The Rock is joining your board of directors is an outright master stroke because you can right away do stuff like this. And like I said, TKO f***ing needed that. They’d been taking a kicking perception and stock wise since the merger.

I don’t love this idea, but we’ll see how it goes

Yeah this is a great move for WWE. Netflix has way more reach domestically and globally than cable. This is the future of sports, IMO. We already see that with Prime/Peacock for the NFL, Peacock/Apple for MLB, and I'm sure the NBA will have some streaming content in their next media rights deal. This was a no brainer move for WWE. I looked it up, and Netflix has 77.3 million subscribers when combining the United States with Canada. USA Network is currently in 72 million homes in the U.S. Yes but 5 years ago USA Network was in about 90 million homes and Netflix had 63 million subscribers. The numbers are going to keep going down for cable.

Not Netflix specifically, but he pointed out that WWE programming has a home on cable (Smackdown) and network TV (NXT). Why not a streaming service too?

I tend to think there's no real "top show" anymore. They're both huge f***ing juggernauts with tons of star power on each. It's not 2004-2009 anymore where Smackdown always lost their top stars when Raw needed a boost.

Holy shit, I just saw the 10 year deal part. That could be questionable.
Also, it says Netflix is getting the Network content outside of the US. I wonder if that means Canada too? Our Network stuff is currently tied to SportsNet

It’s also smart that it’s in places that need content. USA needed something to replace Raw and Fox basically handed them Smackdown, CW is rebuilding and will try anything to make something click and NXT is still a WWE show and Netflix is trying to branch out its content and seen how well pro wrestling works (the OVW doc being a surprise hit from what I remember, along with the past Lucha Underground rights deals) so it all clicks.
