I’d love if it does turn out that here in Ireland, from this time next year, it’ll be raw, smack down, NXT, and ppvs live on Netflix, along with the WWE network archive ready to go as a one stop shop for all WWE content. That’s what I hoped when I first saw the news about 11 hours ago, but I’m worried it’s too good to be true.

Especially since it basically in theory means there won’t be WWE content from them at the end of the year. Not to say they can’t be reminding people across the year but considering these questions have been asked a lot in this thread, it feels like neglecting easily answered questions.

Meltzer on their breaking news show said "this might be the last RAW deal I see signed during my lifetime" and that made me feel oddly sad for some reason. Oh no, what's wrong with Meltzer? Is he sick or something? No, he just realized "oh god I could be 80 years old when this is done"

Well the questions being asked are the logical ones give the information we got in what I felt at the time was a full statement but having read it again it’s slightly vague on stuff, and allows people to draw their own conclusions. I think this does kill the network here in Ireland and the UK, given that the only things live on it now, are PPVs and NXT and they will be gone.

Like, yeah, logically looking at it, it should basically kill the Network in all forms in the UK and Ireland and Canada and the the deals in Latin America are ending by the end of the year but the wording just says “Hey, we’ll air stuff here” but does that mean those things are dead? Could TNT Sports still renew their deal? What would that mean to all this? Like, no follow up is astoundingly weird right now.

watching nick khan's interview on the pat mcafee show and jesus christ, i knew this guy was hitting home runs in the corporate world but he's basically untouchable when it comes to corporate speak. like in a weird way, I'm actually impressed and don't mean that as a slight on him, he is good.

Fascinated to see what this eventually means for the UK market. Without looking it up, I imagine Netflix is in far more homes than BT/TNT Sports.
Anecdotally, all shows and all PLEs on UK Netflix (if that indeed turns out to be the situation) seems a great deal for the consumer, especially those like yours truly with an existing Netflix account already.

There is currently a big unanswered question about this deal. Right now, the most recent 4 weeks of Raw and NXT episodes are available on the various USA Network on demand platforms. The same goes for Fox and Smackdown.
However, once a show is over 30 days old, it gets removed from the USA/Fox platforms and moves over to WWE Network and Peacock.
I wonder if the Netflix deal will work the same way?

From pure speculation, and with the terms of the deal, it does seem likely that the aim is for Netflix to be the location for all the WWE stuff so the case may be that the content stays up on Netflix and not move to Peacock. You’re not being paid that much to be the whipping boy to another streamer with a couple of years left on the deal. But then I don’t know those terms so for all we know, for the next two years after it’s on Netflix, there’s removal of content and it just exchanges between both sides which would be extremely complicated. Now internationally, it probably won’t matter because if CBC and TNT Sports aren’t going to be airing WWE stuff after this year, they’ll be nothing for it to go to as such.

Rogers Sportsnet airs WWE, not the CBC.

For those who missed it, here’s Ari and Dwayne talking about the WWE/Netflix deal and Dwayne joining the TKO board.
Bloomberg TV covered it too.

Will the wrestlers be entitled to Netflix royalties or will royalties still be under WWEs in house system that they used for the network?

Will the wrestlers be entitled to Netflix royalties or will royalties still be under WWEs in house system that they used for the network? It'd definitely be the latter because it's not a Netflix production, it's an independent production that Netflix is paying for the rights to.

Some of the best news I've heard in a long time. I can drop Peacock next year. WWE programming is literally all I watch on it.

The Peacock deal doesn't expire until the first quarter of 2026. It's also not clear if Netflix will continue to carry Raw episodes after 30 days. USA Network currently has the rights to each Raw for 30 days, then they have to be removed from USA's website/app. It's possible that will also be the case for Netflix.

If this is true for Canadians, congrats ya'll.The only thing I will miss is Smackdown on Fridays, because it fit my schedule best. So if the new schedule is: Mon - Raw on Netflix Tues - Smackdown on USA Fri - NXT on CW and Rampage right after I am going to eat even better on Friday's! Great in theory, but if you want to watch sports and wrestling and you're a chord cutter, you're looking at $60/month in streaming bills. To access this same content on traditional TV is a $20 add on to my internet bill
