LMAO, you have to love the Rock's hustle. Gets announced today as part of the board and is immediately front and center. They still look like a league of supervillain and The Rock looking like Samoan Lex Luther doesnt help Well, he did want to fight Superman, so it fits.

I shudder to think how much Netflix is gonna cost when Raw debuts. an arm, leg, human soul & first born child. so not much more than the next expected price increase.

Streaming services are going to consolidate. I just do not see Paramount+ a standalone service year from now, much less 5 years from now. Well, there are rumors about Warner Bros Discovery buying/merging with Paramount... so this could definitely happen.

Brandon Thurston said he asked about raw and the gap at the end of this year, and NBC replied that he should contact WWE. Meltzer said he was told that there will be an announcement by WWE soon.

I feel like they'll just stay put on usa til January, right? Smackdown's coming over and everyone appears to have good relationships with each other, so no need to create unnecessary hostility imo

As someone who's been watching since the 80's, and has seen the crazy evolution of entertainment, Raw being on Netflix is gonna be so freaking weird for a minute.

I know there’s nine months to go but still…

No joke. It's gonna take some getting used to, knowing that a show that's been running nonstop for three decades is still going but won't be on regular TV anymore. If you'd told me when I first signed up for Netflix back when they were only a mail-order DVD rental company that they would be airing live episodes of Monday Night Raw online, I'd have thought you were crazy.

Something that kind of keeps getting to me at this is that this Netflix deal sounds like it could majorly bite WWE on the ass down the line. Them potentially being unable to negotiate for a new deal for 20 years could be a major blow depending on how the TV industry shifts in years to come. That it's only around a 30% boost to their income when they were wanting 50% also seems potentially ominous.

This may well be just a good faith contract and the real money will be there, in a deal that may not be nearly as long lasting.

So is Netflix just going to have a WWE sub section? The WWE network had more content than Canadian Netflix.
Im honestly surprised, Netflix did not just try to keep the physical WWE network and just link to it or something

I thought they were just selling the rights to Raw. How’d Netflix get the entire wwe network and the international rights to all their shows?
Seems almost like a loss of money they could have made selling all those things separately

So when Raw goes to Netflix in 2025, does it become the A-show again? Because it's been pretty clear that SmackDown has been WWE's premier weekly television program since going to FOX back in 2019.
It'll be interesting to see how the roster gets reshuffled this winter, whether WWE puts more weight on keeping SmackDown the A-show on traditional television, or if this new venture into live streaming on Netflix makes Raw the top show once again.
Either way, I don't think we're approaching the doldrums of the late-2000s and early-2010s, when SmackDown was effectively "A repeat of this past week's Raw, minus the stars."

Smackdown is on network TV and has Reigns but I don’t know if I necessarily agree that it’s been the A show in the last couple of years. The shows seem on pretty equal footing right now. I can definitely see Raw being more of that A show once Smackdown is back on USA, though.

I think SmackDown still has the edge as the A-show because they have Roman Reigns and The Bloodline, they have Logan Paul holding the U.S. Championship, and the last few times we've seen John Cena on WWE television, it was on SmackDown. I wonder if WWE holds off on the 2024 Draft until later in the fall, perhaps after Survivor Series, so they can disperse talent to the two brands to appease both Netflix executives and those behind the scenes at USA/NBC Universal.

Has anyone discussed the possibility of Netflix creating a "WWE plan" that you pay to get it?
Because I bet they do that.

I know there’s nine months to go but still… Yeah I was going to suggest just going on hiatus and do full roster Smackdown for 3 months, but then I remembered the rest of the world still us raw for the rest of the year. Can’t go back to The wwe network, it’s deactivated in this country. Be a dick move to give to peacock for three months just to go to Netflix
