Is it possible for a trade to be bad for both parties? Bradley Beal is clearly the best player in the trade, but how on earth does he fit in Phoenix alongside Devin Booker and Kevin Durant? They're all ball-dominant scorers. There's still one basketball on a court at a given time, right? So someone among those three is going to have to sacrifice a lot of scoring opportunities, and I'm intrigued to see if they'll end up happy about it. But Washington are also losers because they traded away a valuable asset in Beal and they best they could do was Landry Shamet and some draft fodder. How is it possible to screw things up that bad? Was the market for Beal really that non-existent? Because I have to imagine Milwaukee and Miami would've both given up significantly better packages than a bench piece and some meaningless second-round picks. The only way I could possibly say this worked for Washington is if Beal was dead-set on playing in Phoenix and refused to waive his no-trade clause for any other move. Beal doesn't need the ball. He's played with both Wall and Westbrook, ball dominant guards and thrived. KD also doesn't need the ball. Booker showed he can play with a ball dominant like he did with CP3. They can make it work and it most likely be KD that sacrifices the touches Beal agent is Suns CEO son which the league should look into. But Washington said they would work with him for a trade and their scope was extremely limited due to his NTC. New regime wants to start from zero and get his 4 year $200M salary off the books Yeah, Beal/Book/KD doesn't worry me too much, which sucks because I hope they fail. But from the running an offense standpoint it shouldn't be a huge issue. There's more issues with guys who are particularly ball-dominant. KD played with Harden fine. Beal played well with Wall really dominating the ball. Book deferred to CP3 running the offense. Book can facilitate and has in the past, but mostly for short stints when Payne and CP3 were out. I think Beal will lose shots, but they're all good shooters who can create their own shot and aren't used to being like a Luka or someone who has the ball for the majority of the shot clock. I think their bigger issue is turning into another Nets who played a bunch of iso ball. You look at the Nuggets and they play together. They move the ball, they make guys like Gordon and Brown better. The Suns playing a bunch of iso ball isn't going to make less talented depth players better. It didn't in Brooklyn either. People worried that if Curry or Harris were going to catch fire while KD and Harden were rolling and they'd be unstoppable.

Beal will mesh well with KD and Booker, IMO. He'll play off the ball more and he's capable of doing that. The issue for PHO is going to be depth. They have none.

Yeah, it is going to be up to the coach to not turn this into pure iso ball and have everyone share because the role players will be important. All 3 guys have played with ball dominant players so they know what it takes to play off the ball but there is a reason GS has really been only team that has shown how to share the ball at a successful level with a bunch of shooters Phoenix biggest problem is they will need a bench. You need role players willing to play their roles and not be old broken down players. Trade Ayton and get role players. Get a Center that's their rebounding and defense, add another 3 and D player next Okogie, and an X factor who could at least go off on certain days That will be hard to get

I'd make fun of the Suns plan by saying "there's only one basketball and they have too many scorers" but I did that when KD went to the Warriors and that turned out fine.
I'll be curious if the Suns can break out of that "zero rings" club. Booker and his team have proven that they know how to shit the bed in the playoffs.

When does the free agency / legal tampering nonsense start? Has to be soon, right?! Have you seen this year's free agent class? It's ghastly. Some role players and bench pieces are about to get seriously overpaid because of the lack of talent on the market this summer. The best unrestricted free agents according to CBS Sports are: Kyrie Irving, Jerami Grant, Brook Lopez, Nikola Vucevic, Jakob Poeltl, D'Angelo Russell, Christian Wood, Russell Westbrook, Harrison Barnes, Dillon Brooks, Max Strus, Gabe Vincent, Kelly Oubre, and Naz Reid. You know it's a lackluster class when Kyrie Irving - who has averaged 40 games played per season since departing the Celtics and can be, at the very best, described as a mercurial headcase who might vanish on his team on a whim - is considered the prize of the off-season.

I feel like I'm becoming the board's foremost Draymond Green rumormill cause I love getting invested in the dumbest shit, but
Woj said today that Draymond is almost certainly staying in Golden State, and to me this might be the biggest sign yet that dude is Gone because Draymond is under Klutch Sports (LeBron and Rich Paul's management firm) and Klutch are relentlessly horny for giving Woj misleading info that makes him look dumb as hell. Also Draymond and LeBron are literally roaming thru France right now on a sexy getaway.

He turned down a $27.6 million option, so his agents must be telling him that he'll get more on the open market. But the question is, who is giving 33-year-old Draymond Green at least $28 million annually? Houston, San Antonio, Utah, Oklahoma City, Detroit, Indiana, and Orlando are the only teams with any real cap space. Is he going to give up his final years of championship contention in Golden State just to take a bag full of money from a cellar-dweller like the Jazz, Pistons, or Pacers?

It’s about about increasing his annual money it’s about the overall money. He can take a pay cut to $20M AAV and end up with $80M over 4 years therefore getting himself an additional $53M

I figure that he's still firmly dreaming about being on The Lakers, but that deal would be literally impossible to make on LA's end without them doing something insanely risky like trading AD in the most salary dump deal they can make or letting Reaves and Hachimura walk away. I'm too damn excited for chaos lmao

ALSO the prospect of giving up a f***ton of roleplayers for somebody like present day Draymond Green just sounds like it's going to be a ridiculously hard sell right now (assuming he's not down for a sizeable pay cut, which he definitely isn't) more than ever when Denver just won their first ever championship primarily with roster depth that's almost guaranteed to be the blueprint for a whole bunch of teams in need of rings next year that aren't The Phoenix Suns.

To no surprise, Kyle Kuzma has declined his Player Option in hopes of securing a bigger deal than his $13M AAV
To my surprise Gary Trent Jr has opted in to his Player Option at $18.56M. Considering he is only 24, I think he could easily matched what he had or got $20M AAV but word is he wants to remain in Toronto and hopes to work out a deal
It's not the worst decision considering he FVV is most likely gone BUT I think raptors expected him to leave and they move Siakim and develop Barnes. Can still happen as Scottie Barnes is 21 so they can sign Gary Trent Jr to a longer deal and he can always be trade bait for later

He might want to stay there long-term, which not many seem to do.
