Batman 1989 is still legit. I love the cinematography and Keaton and Nicholson both did an amazing job. Still a great render of Batman and Gotham.
I like it when Gotham is dark, foggy, and atmospheric…not when it just looks like Chicago.

DGAF what anyone says, I love Batman Returns. Saw it very young and from Keaton to DeVito to Pfeiffer, the aesthetic, dialogue, etc love it.
Took me a while to catch the OG but still great.

I like it when Gotham is dark, foggy, and atmospheric…not when it just looks like Chicago. I decided on a whim to watch it again a few weeks ago. I hadn't watched it in a LONG time. I was happy that I still enjoyed it a lot!

I still have never seen all of BR in order in one sitting.
Love the first film. Skipped BR in theaters for various reasons. And just nevver saw it from then on. Sure it's been on TV and I catch a piece of it. Just never felt like watching it.
Not really fully sure why.

I like it when Gotham is dark, foggy, and atmospheric…not when it just looks like Chicago. I've said it before... I hate Burton's Gotham. It's too claustrophobic and small... and doesn't at all feel like a real living city but a soundstage... cause it is. There are only like 3 blocks in all of Gotham apparently. Of the original films (hell most of them that didn't just choose like Detroit or Chicago) I think Schumacher did the best job of making Gotham feel like the overly art deco and grandiose metropolis it's usually portrayed as.

It's insane how many big movies opened in 1989.

I love what we get of Burton's Gotham, but what we get is painfully limited. There's only so many times you can see the Monarch Theatre in the back of a shot or keep going back to Gotham Square before it begins to feel small. Schumacher definitely gave us my favourite live action Gotham.

I like Batman Returns more than Batman '89. Always have, and always will.

I wish I was born so I could've experienced the hype that was batman '89. Every video and article I read about that era amazes me

These movies were released! Honey, I Shrunk the Kids also premiered the same day as Batman and surprisingly held its own. 1989 was the Summer of Batman and Rick Moranis.

I can't watch this anymore without thinking of Kevin Smith's commentary. "TTHIS MOVIE HAD A HAPPY MEAL ATTACHED TO IT!"

Honey, I Shrunk the Kids also premiered the same day as Batman and surprisingly held its own. 1989 was the Summer of Batman and Rick Moranis. Over a four month period there was... - Batman - Lethal Weapon 2 - Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade - Ghostbusters II - Honey, I Shrunk the Kids - License to Kill - The Abyss - Star Trek V - Dead Poets Society - When Harry Met Sally - Major League - Pet Semetary - Turner & Hooch - Uncle Buck - Road House Summer '89 was stacked!

It's what ultimately doomed UHF. Which is a good movie but it was released right in the middle of these mega hits.
