Well, before it gets posted officially.. Does anyone think Collision broke 1M viewers? I dont really know why that number matters so much but it seems to be the goal for these big shows. I think it's definitely possible, but I can also safely say I wouldn't be surprised if it was around 800k. Curious to see what they're able to maintain going forward. Might've broke a million in minute by minute breakdowns, maybe even for a segment... average? I'm leaning more towards 900K+ As mentioned above, if the overnights are 814K as suggested, it'd take a pretty big swing for it to land 900K+. I think a safer bet is 850-870 and maybe the Punk stuff cracks 900K. We'll see!

I wonder what the company and Warner are expecting Collision to average weekly.
Also, I'm guessing Battle of the Belts is effectively done, right?

The quarter hours for Collision will be interesting. I'd expect the opening quarter to be high, both because it usually is and because it had Punk. The true test is how many stuck around to watch him wrestle in the main event.
You know, the match I don't think he mentioned once during his opening promo.

Nope, TK confirmed Battle of Belts quarterly specials will continue. I wonder if they'll be life and just follow Collision on Saturdays, it'd have to do better for their numbers right? And hey Warner's paying them for those shows so... f*** it.

If it were up to me, I'd just split the difference and brand certain Collision episodes as "Collision: Battle of the Belts" and just do BOTB on those episodes.

The true test is how many stuck around to watch him wrestle in the main event. You know, the match I don't think he mentioned once during his opening promo. Yeah, that's my concern too. If you look at their YouTube page, and look at the clips from Collision, Punk's opening promo is currently sitting at 1.3 million views, and the trios match is at about 718k. Every other clip is less than half that, with the TNT Championship match only having 305k views, and everything else, including Miro and Andrade's returns and Skye Blue's match, are all under 250k. So that suggests that, at least on YouTube, there's a large portion of the audience that's there to see Punk and only Punk. It'll be interesting to see if the TV ratings reflect that.

Strong demo with a 0.33. Viewership a little lower than I expected at 816K.
Now we see how hard that rating falls the next few weeks. They didn’t really do anything in episode 1 to set up matches/feuds moving forward (outside of HOB-Andrade).

Collision beat Dynamite in the Demos.

Basically Dynamite-like numbers and beat it in the demo. And beat the debut Rampage but didn't come close to the second episode with Punk's debut but that would be unrealistic to expect considering the hype that had.
That would probably be a decent number going forward if it's essentially the same level as Dynamite. They'll be hoping there's not a ton of people like me who tuned in for the insanity around Punk to see what he'd say then probably won't bother going forward.

Anyway, good number. I’d figure that’s your core AEW audience tuning in. Let’s see ‘em break a million in the coming weeks.

I very much doubt it'll keep that number going forward but if it can do around 5-600,000 or so it'll be doing fine.

I think Meltzer said if they can settle in at 0.26 or better that would be a positive. Not sure what he was basing that on (the company or network’s expectations or just his own thoughts about it).

AEW can't break a million consistently and frankly, I don't think they ever will. Further to that I don't think they'll hit a million again this year. Not with 4-5 star matches Not with Using CMLL/AAA stars Not with having a partnership with NJPW, Stardom Not with Punk Not with pushing young stars Not with having wrestlers win at home and not be embarrassed every time Not with anything. WWE is on a mega ultra-hot streak and so any casuals are going to watch that until it cools which given the trend I don't see happening. Who knew the winning formula was cucking Cody Rhodes, A 3-year title reign, and giving Rey Mysterio's kid a hot topic makeover.

WWE is on a hot streak for many reasons related to good booking, protecting and building stars, and the extreme improvement in the week to week shows (thanks to less Vince). AEW will still likely break a million though here and there this year. Just need the right build and card. They’ve done it twice this year so far.
