Maybe I imagined it but swear MJF curled some hair either side of his head so as to look like devil horns. If so that's genius

If I’m MJF, and I’m not, but work with me here… I ride this thing until the wheels fall off. Then put the wheels back on and keep going until they fall off again. This thing has turned around his title run. And also it helps him avoid Punk like the plague he is. I think the general idea of him riding it out as a face is fine sure, but right now who is there for him to face with decent heel credibility? He's beaten Mox in this reign, he's beaten Ricky Starks, he's beaten Bryan Danielson, he's even beaten Jack Perry and so forth. So you have...maybe Jay White? Christian/Joe/Swerve aren't exactly there. I suppose Takeshita once he's done with Kenny but not if he loses which he probably will. As a heel, he still has Hangman, Kenny, Orange Cassidy, Eddie, hell even Wardlow to go back to that all have decent credibility that he hasn't gone to really. He can keep his current character and work face vs. face matches without issue.

Just have the story be the face MJF is feuding with not trusting that he’s a changed man, then MJF beats the face cleanly without cheating and earns the respect of said face.

Face MJF works against other faces because he isn't just a typical baby face. He's a reforming heel who can't help himself sometimes with relapses. But he works hard to overcome them.
It makes him really sympathetic and relatable to anyone with mental health struggles.

He could do a little reunion tour with all the faces he's proper disrespected in the past. Earn their respect back. Darby. Get Pillman Jr back Ideal world would end with Punk and an official double turn

I swear I've never really cared a lot about MJF, but between his saying he never had an actual friend before Cole, and how you can see he's fighting his base instincts so hard to do right by Cole, the guy's suddenly very sympathetic and I can't believe he and Cole are like my favorite bromance in wrestling right now, what is happening hahah Anyway just went to Twitter and this was one of the first tweets I saw and immediately started cackling

This story has led to me consistently enjoying Roderick Strong promos.
Feud of the year for that alone.

Poor Roddy. Why does he keep travelling to shows to put himself through this? He flew all the way to London to give MJF a lowblow.
Well still not as bad as Nick Wayne who flew all the way to London to get his arse kicked by a dinosaur.

I do think the decision of having MJF be the clearly babyface in the match itself with Cole being the clearly more vicious one ,with the end of the match and post match playing it,genius. Both man said they wouldnt hold any punches but only Cole really meant it
The story was perfectly told. The spot where MJF refused to piledrive Cole on the table, only to Cole show 0 hesitation ,made me fully go from "lets have a friendship match" to "f*** HIM UP MJF"

Honestly if I was Roderick I would be f***ing happy.I wouldnt expect to be a main eventer in AEW but he played a vital part in the biggest angle of the biggest show in wrestling history and did a great job at it.

I can relate a hell of a lot to MJF, minus the killing women part. I'll just leave it at that!

It's interesting to me that MJF and Hangman are very similar in terms of being faces who struggle to overcome their demons and how it hurt their ability to have and keep friendships. With Hangman, it was his anxiety and depression leading to an alcohol dependency. With MJF, it's anxiety and RSD causing him to be so afraid of forming connections that he became a massive scumbag as a defense mechanism.
Also why both journeys to fight and overcome those demons are some of the most compelling wrestling arcs to me in recent memory.

I have never liked Roderick Strong. I've always thought he's the most bland wrestler around. But he's so good in this angle and he's adding so much to it! He needs to stay as the spurned and jealous friend forever.
His role also makes perfect sense because if your best friend was ditching you for a snake like MJF, you'd also have something to say about it. Not to the degree that Strong has, but that's pro wrestling. Take things that feel real and dial them up to 11.

MJF/Cole can be AEW's Bloodline aka the storyline that revitalizes the company. It kind of already is. Consider that a hug was one of the biggest pops and feel-good moments in company history. This MJF/Cole storyline needs to keep going and going.

The people have spoken, and they wanna Better Than You BayBay.

Yeah, the focus on mental health and male sensitivity is one of the best things about AEW. It’s not only a useful tool to help make wrestlers like Page. MJF, and Kingston incredibly rounded, three-dimensional characters, but it’s damned refreshing as an anxiety-riddled, bipolar, overly sensitive human to see so many of my struggles represented in a medium that’s traditionally only utilized cartoon characters and toxic masculinity.
