Bigfootmania died when cellphone cameras went HD. It's still very much a thing here in Kentucky oddly enough Oh! A fellow Kentucky native! I'm from Lexington myself.

How about teachers and parents warning about people giving out LSD-laced "tatoos" outside schools? I remember this being in a "Dear parents..." newsletter from school when I was a kid, and a week later another being sent out to say it was a hoax. Primary school, what a rollercoaster.

Not weird, but ozone depletion. Then when I finished school everybody was dancing to "Dragostea Din Tei", officially marking victory.

The music parental advisory label. Oh, and I had an elementary school teacher who thought that Pogs were satanic.

Surge or Vault lowering your sperm count.
We will all in grade school. None of us wanted to have kids. There was zero reason this should've mattered to us, but anyone who got caught drinking it would be mercilessly mocked for it.

Remember when Starter hats and jackets were a big thing? Parents were afraid that their if their kid wore the apparel to school, it would get stolen. I even heard about some who wrote their kid’s name on the inside of the clothing. I never heard of this happening with any other clothing brand. I didn't personally experience this, but when I lived in Washington, some of the natives I worked with recalled Chicago Bulls merchandise being banned from their high schools since it'd become strongly associated with a gang set.

Back in my high school years,so 90 thru 92 the vice principal was convinced the school had a gang issue.
Which lead to some just dumb dress code rules.
Couldn't have on more than 2 articles of clothing of the same color. Couldn't wear more than 2 articles of clothing with the same sports team logo on it.
Breaking either rule was considered "Gang related" and got you at least 1 hour of dentention and points towards alternative school.

Rattlesnakes have proved less of a threat in my life than kids TV shows made them seem, so far at least. They’re around. Was on the golf course. My buddy shanks one off to the slough. We go looking for it. Hear bugs, frogs, then an unmistakable rattle. I said “That’s a funny sounding frog. How about you just found it in the rough?” He did!!!

I loved the satanic panic over Magic the Gathering and Pokemon. I was in 3rd grade when Mazes and Monsters aired. Next week at school my Math teacher saw my D&D book sticking out of my book bag. Got sent to the office and made to call my mother. Where this teacher explained to her how "evil and Satanic D&D" was. Ok for another thing that people worried about when I was a kid and now I never hear it mentioned. Long distance calling.... I can remember as a kid and even in my teens and early adult years if I called my grandparents I had to make it a quick call cause they lived a county over and it was long distance. Now with cells nothing is long distance.

Y'know, it seems like there was a drop in UFO sightings once cell phones got better cameras. I remember reading about people having incredibly descriptive sightings... stuff like "the flying saucer had circling lights and two rows of windows and you could see humanoid shapes staring out the windows". Now you just get an odd shape or a weird light in the distance. Now you're a guy who has never read what has been happening on r/UFO the last month or so. They're more convinced than ever. Also, there hasn't been an alien movie lately. Whenever a movie comes out with aliens, abductions skyrocket and the aliens and their ship look exactly like the movies. It's been true since the first time someone described a flying saucer and the little green man flying it. hell the Chupacabra's look is literally based off of the movie Species... cause the original sighting in the 90's was like a day or two after the woman watched the movie.

Yeah, in like the early to mid 2000s every phone carrier started offering "unlimited" long distance... which of course then led to the fall of land lines and the rise of cell phones that basically made area codes useless...

Yep since 2003 we have had a land line where we dont pay extra to call long distance. Yes I am one of the few homes left wiht a land line. Cell signal aint great out this way.

How about teachers and parents warning about people giving out LSD-laced "tatoos" outside schools? I don't remember the LSD part, but I definitely remember my teacher taking time out of class to warn us about tattoos, mentioning shows like Muppet Babies and Ninja Turtles, the telling us not to get one lol Big ones I remember were "Harry Potter promotes witchcraft and devil worship", "Pokemon is an addiction", and my eighth grade English teacher was very outspoken against South Park. Like, she hated so bad that she sent home a note to all the parents telling them to not to let their kids watch it and actually made anyone wearing a South Park t-shirt in her class either change or turn it inside out. One kid in my grade won a Kenny plush at Canobie Lake Park on the end of the year field trip and they weren't allowed to take it on that teacher's bus.

I still can't believe that your Physical Education grade would get docked if you didn't strip naked and take a shower in front of half your classmates and often a fully clothed teacher whose job it was to make sure you showered after class.
Like what in the actual f!#$ was the concern? Seriously here. Was it really concerning that a teen might smell not 100% shower fresh at 2pm for the last hour of school? In retrospect it sounds like a job some pedo bullshitted their way into existence. I'm a grown ass man that's many decades removed from this situation... please for the love of god tell me they still don't do this at school.
