ROH still moves tickets for PPVs, there's still a demand for the show and it gives people work and opportunity Show shouldn't die, it just needs tinkering. I don't think any talent are "Stuck there" either. The issue continues to be, to me, how it's distributed, and I really think if Tony can't get the show on TV or on a Warner streaming service, he should just put it on Youtube. AEW talent moves tickets for ROH PPVs. Show is dead because there is little to no life in the weekly show aired online exclusively that fans need to pay to watch, and "putting it on YouTube" is backwards progress. You might as well have kept Dark/Elevation. Except they couldn't keep Dark/Elevation because of WBD.

Or... Let ROH rest in peace. In the last two years, the company has died twice. Once was Final Battle 2021 and the other, and I realize how morbid this sounds, was when Jay Briscoe died. AEW exists because of ROH. There is no need to carry on the ROH name. Use the tape library however you can, but Tony needs to stop pigeonholing AEW talent with a company that is no longer needed. When you have world-class talent like Claudio, Athena, Lucha Bros. etc, spinning their wheels, holding belts that dont mean as much as they once did, it is time to approach this realistically. I for one do not want ROH to be "developmental." AEW can, and should, create its own developmental system to build the next generation(s) of talent without using the Ring of Honor name or license. If Tony wants/needs to do a ROH tribute show/PPV once or twice a year to keep up with the ™, fine. I would bet money a once a year ROH show would garner more interest than keeping this company on life support for no plausible reason. Get the talent stuck there and move them up, or out. Ian Riccobani deserves better. Or the people who are still enjoying and watch the product can continue to enjoy it and not have it die, there is that option too. Sorry but just because some people don't like the current direction of the promotion, that doesn't mean that the fans who are still enjoying it and the talent being used should be punished. Or AEW should go all in on its own product and push the talent that deserves to be pushed beyond the ROH legacy.

I just don't see the problem. If someone doesn't like the current ROH that's fine but the people like me who are digging the direction, warts and all, can still enjoy the product. It's not hurting anyone nor the "legacy" of ROH. Let's face it, ROH was always a feeder system for other promotions, TNA, WWE, NJPW and finally AEW have all benefited from the development wrestlers achieved in ROH before becoming big.

You might as well have kept Dark/Elevation. Warner didn't want them to or they would have, they want all AEW content to be exclusive to them and I guess unless DARK/Elevation airs on Max it won't be a thing But I don't think ROH is dead, I think the distribution of the show is dumb right now but people are enjoying the product and it's not just AEW fans pity buying the PPVs or something to go see them ROH puts on great content, and great PPVs, it needs help with the booking focus because I feel like Tony is stretched thin and to maybe convince Warner after a point to air it on a Network. Still can't believe they won't put it on Tru TV or something...

Hypothetically, if AEW produced this same product without the ROH name, would you care this much? Would YOU care this much? Kinda sounds like this has struck a personal nerve with you that they're using Ring of Honor in a way you personally don't like and want the show to die. If you don't like it, fair enough, but you can't just act like ROH isn't appealing to people in some fashion within and even outside of AEW's umbrella. They got what was it 10K buying into Honor Club, not the number they want but it shows there's people who care about ROH in some capacity and what's going on there Athena essentially revived her career because of this ROH run, Claudio has been a world champion twice, Swerve got a better faction because of the Embassy, I can't exactly say this isn't doing something positively for certain wrestlers across both brands. I think it needs work but it surely doesn't need to die.

The handshakes?

I mean, what's really separating Dark/Elevation from ROH at this point? The PPVS? The handshakes? Storylines as well, there are still ROH storylines going on The thing is with DARK/Elevation being pulled by Warner, Tony now uses ROH as the bulk wrestling show. He wants to give people jobs and give them more opportunities because both of those shows fizzled. You can argue whether or not this is at ROH's expense, but I don't think ROH is just a nothing happening show week to week. Tony could stand to trim the cards and focus more on certain talents or storylines yes, but ROH is presented in a higher light than Elevation or DARK in my view.

I'm happy that wrestlers find rebirth in their careers, but I also find using the ROH name at this point unnecessary. AEW is literally using their signed talent to continue interest in a product they don't need to carry. AEW is here. ROH is AEW.

Would it? I mean, what's really separating Dark/Elevation from ROH at this point? The PPVS? The handshakes? I mean, yes, because if, say, it was part of TNT/TBS, they'd potentially have a different touring schedule and layout because they'd be making more money from a deal. And I can't answer that last bit because I'm not watching the shows because I just don't have the time but I'm also not going to respond to people who do enjoy it by trying to act like they only like the thing out of nostalgia or whatever. EDIT: I also wouldn't go into a show thread saying the brand should die and be somewhat surprised by the reaction but again, that's just me.

No one here is arguing ROH is being used to help develop AEW talent, but I think it's pretty clear you don't like it and others in fact are ok with that and ok with ROH as it is now That seems to be the odds and ends of this discussion.

Eh at least Dark/Elevation gave me Emi Sakura, Nyla Rose, and Marina Shafir every week. Now I don't get any of them ever really and instead I have to watch The Righteous every week

The main problem with ROH seems to be that no networks are interested in it. Maybe that would change is they rebranded it more directly under the AEW umbrella, we'll probably never really know for sure. But it's not a good sign that new AEW shows are being ordered, and this brand is just sitting there, kinda collecting dust while stuck on it's super niche streaming service.
That said, I'm glad TK owns the catalogue, and I appreciate he wants to keep it alive. But I don't know if it's really worth it in the long run.

I'm curious to know that if this was rebranded AEW presents "Death Before Dishonor 2023" how much it would sell compared to other ROH ppvs? At the very least they could use some of their television time to properly promote the show.

I'm mixed. I feel like starting up ROH again as an attempt at its own thing was always kind of a dumb and unnecessary idea and it was better to leave it dead, but also when it is a thing and there's likely little overhead with it then there's not much reason to really want it to die.
It's kind of a complex feeling but I simultaneously wish it'd stayed dead but also want its current incarnation to keep going or better yet get better.

The thing is, they wouldn't have to do much for it to get better. Just tell weekly stories and stop treating it like Dark. They have enough talent to make it work. Also, it is a low pressure environment. They can afford to try out different things without a network breathing down their necks for ratings. It would help if they would put the titles on ROH talents. The Lucha Bros and Claudio only showing up occasionally is a killer.
