I was watching a YouTube video recently where the narrator mentioned a character seemingly (but not actually) "ending himself" and I didn't think anything of it, since it seemed like a perfectly normal synonym. But then he used the exact same phrasing again ten seconds later, which just made it sound awkward. Speaking of awkward, I saw a nature video about big cats this afternoon. After a jaguar narrowly escapes an encounter with a crocodile uninjured the narrator says "For a jaguar an injured leg is a sentence." Couldn't even bother to think of another way of saying "death sentence", just dropped "death" entirely.

I just watched the current YouTube version of “How I Could Just Kill a Man” by Cypress Hill. It made me think: at least on YouTube most older mainstream music videos are largely unscathed outside of their original censorship.
For this 1991 music video of course f*** and shit are muted. A lot of places these days though aside from the “kill” in the title they’d probably at least mute “spliff” “gat” and “punto” which actually isn’t a Spanish swear word despite its rough sound.
