I have never actually seen Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, but when I was a little kid, I watched quite a bit of Pee-Wee's Playhouse. RIP to a legend Honestly, it holds up. Big Top, on the other hand, honestly doesn't, though it at least has the novelty of "in the Big Top continuity, Pee-Wee Herman has had sex, make of that what you will." (Yes, Big Adventure and Big Top are apparently strictly not the same continuity, dunno if either are connected to the show or if we are meant to take basically every Pee-Wee thing as its own thing, which, would make sense given him not just turning to Jiambi for help, etc.)

He also played one of the undercover cops in "Matilda."
It was weird role. He was portrayed as a heel, but he was trying to catch another heel in the father for being a crooked used car salesman.

I'm really feeling for Elvira tonight. She's been on my mind since the news broke, especially since John Paragon (who played Jambi on Pee Wee's Playhouse and The Breather on Movie Macabre) was the head writer and closest collaborator of both Elvira and Pee Wee and he passed away in 2021. She shared what appeared to be an early 80s pre-fame photo of the three of them together and it's got to be so especially hard to grieve without the person who you'd most want to grieve with. https://www.instagram.com/p/CvX6MQivWO-

Right, other than that that the sets look different, etc, the only major incongruity would be that Pee-Wee displays more sexual humor, like putting mirrors on his shoes or hypnotizing a woman to undress. It's still presented very juvenile, etc, but it's definitely further than I recall him going on the show or the Christmas special, for example. Not sure where the later movie falls into things, I still need to see that one. They at least make a joke that he concedes that someone would assume he has seen Magic Mike but has not yet, so that's at least kind of an adult joke even if it's not overt. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png)

When I heard the news I quickly watched the end credits to Pee-Wee's Playhouse and it got me crying because at the end of the credits he turns his head back to the audience and waves to the camera, like he is saying goodbye. It made me cry a bit and I know he is riding his scooter and bringing his amazing bike straight into Heaven. We love you and will miss you. RIP 😥

This hurt my mom particularly.
And me too. I remember watching Pee Wee's Playhouse when I was a kid.

This wrecked me all over again: When you think about it, Paul Reubens was one of the true innovators of modern internet comedy. Like think of how much Youtube poop or dank memes were at least subconsciously inspired by the surreal comedy of Pee-Wee Herman.

I've joked before about seeing things that make my childhood cry out in pain, but this time, I mean it seriously. I loved Pee Wee as a kid. Even was proud that I had a little blue tin cup that looked just like his.

I was always impressed by how versatile he was as an actor. With something like Peewee, it would be so was for that to overshadow him, with him seeming like him in every role, but Paul Reubens was in so many things that made me pause and go, 'wait, that was him? Wow.' He wad in so many things and great in all of them.
Rest in peace, Paul.

Hell, even pre-YouTube some of the earliest EARLIEST internet memes were Pee-Wee Herman centric (Ridin' Spinners, Secret Word, etc)

Scott Aukerman has said many times he was the biggest influence on him. I can’t count the number of hours Comedy Bang Bang or other Earwolf podcasts have given me over the years…all at least indirectly inspired by Reubens.

Talked to my Mom about it and she brought up how much I loved Pee-Wee as a kid, even moreso than I remember. She said she was thrilled and happy I enjoyed it because Pee-Wee was really at no point mean or cruel or excluding to anyone. Even at his silliest and "stupidest," he was just kind and happy and she said that kind of joy is the exact type of joy that you'd want a kid to see. We then talked about how many of our running jokes that we've had for decades ("so funny i forgot to laugh," the Jambi chant, etc.) came from Pee-Wee to the point where I'd kind of forgotten just what an impact he'd always had.

Is this what originated Mr. Socko for Mick Foley? Because I would not be surprised at all.
