I think it says a ton that Man Utd can get absolutely stuffed against 14th placed Palace, and it's not really a bombshell these days.
Can you imagine if they actually pulled the upset and won the FA Cup? It'd be the weirdest season in years. Though winning that didn't save van Gaal.

Still, he had a solid first season and the squad has been absolutely eviscerated by injuries all season. I'd imagine that's enough of a bargaining chip to buy him one last chance.

Sorry I didn’t mean to make it the question was directed at you. I mean let’s say the injured players come back. I don’t see how anything will change. He’s a good manager but some of the players have not played well. Onana is poor in goal. I don’t see the hype around him, and I’ve been a united fan since schmeichel’s first season so maybe I’m holding him to a very high standard. I know there’s been injuries and they have been massive, but you’re playing for Manchester United. Also, I checked and Fernandes is the top scorer in the league with TEN goals.

The problem is there's very little quality beyond the half dozen or so quality players we have – Martinez (when fit), Fernandes (when not sulking), Rashford (same), plus Mainoo, Garnacho, and Højlund, who've all shown great promise. The squad itself is poor, there's no doubt about that. Too many workmanlike players, not enough genuine class. It's been that way arguably since Ferguson's last season and has gotten progressively worse. None of the squad would be considered a first-choice player in the peak Ferguson years. Onana has certainly showed improvements in the last few months and I've seen enough of him at Ajax and Inter to know he's a talented player, but he's still an overall downgrade on De Gea. As for holding him to Schmeichel's standards, we're in an era where goalkeepers are expected to be playmakers too, and I daresay even Schmeichel himself – who I hold as certainly the best goalkeeper to ever play in England – would probably not be considered capable enough with his feet to hold down a place in a team above mid-table today, which is funny because I don't think a single keeper in the league today can hold a candle to him. And I include Alisson, Ederson, and Martinez, whose names are all frequently tossed around in "best goalkeeper in the world" discussions. Recruitment overall has been a complete mess, something Ten Hag must take the blame for as he has had final say on the players coming in since his arrival. £140 million was spent on Mason Mount and Antony. £140 million. While I remain skeptical that Ratcliffe is the man who can turn the club around, I do appreciate he's already swept away the legion of yes men and toadies the Glazers had put in charge while laying foundations for rebuilding the footballing side of things from the ground up. Still, I don't see us challenging for major honours for at least five years, and probably longer.

Maybe it’s a late winner for Madrid in the champions league semi final. It’s 2-1 Madrid in stoppage time. Jesus that was close.

Madrid go through 4-3 on aggregate. Bayern will feel very hard done by after the linesman put his flag up when I looked the Bayern player was played on.

Harry Kane, one of the deadliest goalscorers in the modern game, has his last chance this season of a first ever professional trophy ended by a guy who couldn't hit a barn door with a banjo at Stoke City and Newcastle.
There's something almost poetic about that.

oxford go the wmeberly to play bolton, for a place in the championship they drew 1-1 with peterborogh, winning 2-1 on aggregate
fiorentina won through to athens, by not bonking his head on that diving board against club brugge, but it was close ... drawing 1-1 too but winning 4-3! but will it be sensible soccer aston villa, or totally not partisan olympiakos that they will play?
didn't see the bayern chopped off goal so i can't possibly comment ...
oh yeah cracking game last night with partick thistle and airdrie in the scottish premiership playoff, 2-2 ... second leg on friday

I’m sure Kane will win a trophy next season. There’s no way Bayern are going 2 seasons in a row without a trophy. Right?
Just reminds me of Sheringham going to Man U and winning nothing in his first season then winning the treble the season after scoring in the Champions League & FA Cup finals too.

Barring a miracle on the last day, it looks all three teams from the Championship will get relegated right back (Sheffield United, Burnley, and Luton). That comes after a season where the three teams from the Championship all stayed up (Fulham, Nottingham Forest, and Bournemouth).

Congrats to my local football team Crawley Town for getting to Wembley for the first time ever with a thumping 5-1 win (8-1 on aggregate) over MK Dons.
Going to try and get tickets for Wembley will see how big Crawley’s allocation will be.

Arsenal are going to be in the weird position of having to pull for Spurs on Tuesday. Spurs have been quite bad in the past month or two but in general they have a shockingly good recent record against City.
The most heartbreaking thing for Arsenal would probably be Spurs doing them a favor on Tuesday, making them favorites for the title then messing up on the final day in a very winnable looking game at home to Everton, kinda like Dortmund last year going into the final day top and with a favorable home fixture against mid-table opposition and managing to mess it up and Bayern won again.

Arsenal have made it to the last day still in with a chance so it’s progress in that sense. Still don’t think Man City will slip up. But if you’d said to me 3 years ago Arsenal would make it to the final day still in the title race I would have laughed. Just need to take it to that next level.
