I just need some online support right now. I haven't had a close pet die on me since 2005, and right now I feel so useless. It's 330 am and I know I need to sleep but I can't.

Man, losing a pet twice over can be a drain, the best advice is to just remind yourself of all the good times you had with it, try not think of how the journey ended, but where it took you.
You'll mend, and it's OK to go a day without sleep provided you can relax later.

So sorry for you, this is the worst part of having a pet.
There's no real right or wrong way to deal, there's no quick solution, just give yourself some time and know that we're here for sharing rants/ramblings/memories or whatever else.

My condolences, losing a pet is so difficult and can be hard to process. 🫂

Sorry for your loss.
And you don't need to worry about any sort of response. It's alright to be upset. Do what you need to do to get through this time. Worry about the rest later.

Sorry for your loss.
Not being able to sleep much is part of grief, don't worry about it. Same with not being able to eat as much, or in some cases eating a lot more. It's gonna take time, trust me.

When our last furless baby passed away (presumably from a brain tumor), it was traumatic for us all. He went from seemingly fine to falling apart over the course of a few weeks filled with seizures. Despite how terrible it was, the memories still could bring a smile to our faces (he was a very clever kitty with lots of personality). I know it stings now, but I promise the good will keep coming to the forefront of your mind before too long.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I remember when our last cat passed on, it was a really sad time. Try to be patient with yourself, these sorts of things just take time. Hope you can get some rest soon.

Very sad and sorry for your loss, pets are the best and iv lost to many to count and thinking of them still makes me cry. I think we will never get over losing them but with time it heals a bit,as long as you think of your pets they are never gone.

Our family cat passed away almost 9 years ago. I remember the build up to it well, as he had a bad week when I was on vacation from work, then he seemed to rebound, before sliding back down and he passed away while I was at work. I won't say it gets easier, because it really doesn't. But it does get better. After a while, you won't think of them as being gone, as much as you think of them and the good times you shared. Hang in there, take care of yourself and take whatever you time you need to heal emotionally.

Years and years later, I'll still have days where I tear up remembering my childhood dog. I was an only child, so he was the closest thing I ever had to a brother.
Don't let anyone minimize the grief you're feeling just because the loss isn't a human. And remember the good times.

It will get better eventually, but at the same time it's more than OK to just not be OK for a while. I know that from experience. Take all the time you need. Anyone who tells you any different or tries to pressure you into "moving on" from your loss before you are ready to should be emphatically told to f*** off.

I've lost Cats before, and it sucks, it's like losing a member of the family
Stay strong man, keep the memories in your heart and know you gave them a wonderful life.

Losing pets sucks big time. I can't tell anyone how to grieve, so just do it at your own pace. The tears may dry up, but you may see or do something that brings up a memory of your pet and the floodgates will open up again.
It's crazy how a small animal can have such a big impact on our lives...
