Started from 1977 because 1), Star Wars, and 2), it's the first year to have decent tracking information for this kind of thing. A lot of the first few entries are specifically US instead of worldwide since I couldn't find reliable information on a lot of them. Also I considered including Barbie as an additional option for this year since it's due to pass Mario sooner rather than later, but it hasn't yet so figured may as well leave it off and avoid confusing the matter for now.
Let's see, disregarding some like Lion King and ET I saw when I was too young to really have much direct memory of them I've seen... Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back, Back to the Future, Aladdin, Sorcerer's Stone (though not any of the others, including ones not on this list), Two Towers, Dead Man's Chest, Dark Knight, Avatar, Toy Story 3, Avengers, Frozen, Force Awakens, Civil War, Last Jedi, Infinity War, Endgame, and No Way Home. No not including At World's End, Return of the King and Return of the Jedi aren't oversights.
Also though I've not seen Mario I have seen Barbie.

It's easier to list what I haven't seen, Titanic, the Harry Potter movies, Pirates sequels, Demon Slayer, and Avatar: Way of Water.

Demon Slayer: Mugen Train? WTF? COVID left it without a lot of competition.

I also can only name 5/a handful of those movies I have yet to see during my lifetime (so far).
Kramer vs Kramer and Rainman: I heard a lot about each one. I have thought about watching them both but have not found the time.
Age of Extinction: Was this like the 4th or 5th Transformers movie? And if so how did this beat out both Guardians of the Galaxy AND Captain America Winter Soldier? Anyway I believe Revenge of the Fallen/3rd movie is when I stopped watching Transformers and have not looked back since.
Demon Slayer: This is the first I've ever heard about this one? Covid stopped all movies coming out to theaters in March, then no new movies came out until October or November that year anyway.
Avatar Way of Water: While I enjoyed the first movie enough, it is VERY overated IMO. I have been meaning to watch this on Disney + sometime but just can not find the energy to sit through 3 hours of it/there is so many other movies and shows I rather watch.

Seen 25. Lots of that is because when I was younger my parents would goto the theater often. Being an only kid they would drag me along. So I saw Kramer Vs Kramer when I was 4 or 5.
Once you get past about 94 there is so few I have seen.
Having never seen Top Gun or all of Rain Man are really the only pre mid 90s stuff I haven't seen.
Once you get past 2000s it is all sequels to franchises I don't watch. Saw LOTR 1 and was bored,so never bothered with the rest. Saw that first Transformers movie and again bored. Gave up on most of the MCU stuff after Civil War.
And wait Demon Train made more than New Mutants? HOW! or Tenent?

The ones I haven't seen: Kramer vs Kramer, toy story 3, magen train and avatar the way of water.
The crazy thing with toy story is I watched that first one so many times on VHS and somehow I've never seen any of the sequels despite fully intending to.

Mugen Train outperformed Sonic?

Mugen Train outperformed Sonic? It was like an absurdly giant hit within Japan, was on top there like all year long and being one of the biggest movie markets in the world it was kind of singlehandedly enough to elevate it.

Mugen Train outperformed Sonic? Sonic took $319 million worldwide, and was hit hard by the instability caused by the pandemic. Mugen Train took $450 million in Japan alone during the point in the pandemic where day-to-day life was largely unaffected. It took another $50 million in the rest of the world.

I was doing well until the end of the list. As I don't care about Avatar and haven't seen any Marvel movies after the first Avengers, that left a lot of movies I haven't seen.

Grease, E.T., Return of the Jedi, Back to the Future, Aladdin, Jurassic Park, The Lion King, Titanic, Sorcerer's Stone, Dark Knight, Toy Story 3, Avengers, Captain America, Civil War, Infinity War, Endgame, and No Way Home.
I've never been a big movie guy and there was also a ten year stretch when I didn't go to the movies at all. I saw Dark Knight on DVD, and Toy Story 3 years later on Freeform.
