Christian losing that first fall with that turtleneck pulled over his head is one of the funniest things I've seen this year. The way he can go from horribly terrible soap opera villain to comedy is genius.

As someone who felt like the only, lonely person ecstatic about Christian joining AEW, I do feel mildly vindicated these days. Always loved Cage in TNA, but in AEW I wish he was my father.

I could not be a wrestling journalist because I would not be able to keep a straight face if Christian chewed me out. I'd just start grinning happily instead of playing along.

I'm right there with you, I was hype AF about Christian signing and baffled by it being so shat on by so many lol. But we were right in the end!!

Speaking for myself, I think Tony just kind of marked out as a huge Christian fan and some of the words he used to hype Christian got a lot of people expecting someone who was at the top of their game at the current time... and while Christian did have his Rumble appearance, he didn't really have the momentum as he really wasn't in the mind of many people. That being said, he legitimized Luchasaurus and Jack Perry since joining AEW and has put the TNT title at arguably it's most important level of all time after it had seen its value tanked the last year, so any let down has been paid back ten fold

Yeah this is a GOAT run for Christian. Ironic that the big hyped return (Punk) was a letdown in the end, while Christian flourished.

So I asked the question in the Wrestle Dream thread if this was Christian's best run of his career, and seeing how the main event ended, I actually don't think it's debatable. I loved his run as heel champ in TNA, but it was such a weird time for TNA with them catering to Kurt Angle. In ring wise his ECW title run was probably his best, but he was the world champ of the clear third brand. When Christian moved to Smackdown after ECW, WWE never fully committed to him as a top star just giving him a sympathy win for Edge retiring and a lame title win to stat pad Orton's resume (basically) This heel reign in AEW I think has made him in many ways more appreciated as a true villain. He was always the chickenshit heel, but he's become another level and he's done so much to rehab the TNT title. I said it in another thread, but it does truly feel like AEW has set up an era of super villains Christian Coalition got me watching TNA honestly. He was great and brought out a lot of personality in AJ.

I was pleased, too. People saying it was an underwhelming or that he wasn't a Hall of Famer-level guy were wrong at the time, and it only got to be a more comical position over time. I think it makes some level of sense, in that sometimes Christian has been so "effortlessly" good that he can be taken for granted, but there's a reason that out of the TLC 6, as you could call them, he's probably the most consistent of them all.

I think MAYBE outside of his early TNA run, this is the best period of Christian's career. He is on another level at the moment. I hope he...uh...I mean Luchasaurus!...keeps the TNT title for a long ass time. Yeah the last month and a half has cemented this for me...this is the greatest run of his career, and I loved that TNA run. He's in strong contention for my WOTY this year...honestly it's between him and Bryan, and maybe Mox

Even during his face run in AEW, Christian gave us some gems like calling Don Callis a carny piece of shit. He's just been on a whole other level since turning heel.

I don't care about Christian's face run. I didn't like it at all and I stick by everything I said then. I was so bored I tuned out of everything Christian related.
Now this heel run? Bruh, this is gold and more of my speed. He's changed up his character, his look, cut the best promos of his career and he's got the presence of a soap opera villain. Everything he's connected to stands out. It's like everything he's done in his career's led up to this. In Naruto terms he's combined Kyuubi Mode and Sage Mode if you feel me. I think in his entire career this is the most I've liked Christian since the early TLC days and even then it was more so what he was doing in-ring rather than his actual character. He's bringing out the best work of his career.

Here’s a great product for someone to make and place on Etsy, a Christian Cage Father’s Day card
