How many times has Nakamura lost in top title matches on TV? Because I'm sure he holds the record for most failed title shots for someone whos never won the big ones in WWE. Six (two each to Mahal, Styles and Rollins), with two draws with Styles. I don't know if it's the record, though, I know Samoa Joe is right up there too.

It's f***ing pathetic dude
I don't think there has been a worst choke artist wrestler in my lifetime when it comes to world title matches and how many they've been given just to never win any of them ever
Seth Rollins had a destroyed back and he STILL couldn't get the belt, lmfao. It's just parody at this point.

It's just parody at this point. It's such a weird thing. Like, he's patently not an enhancement talent, because you watch enough wrestling to know how people actually at that level get booked. He wouldn't even be getting THIS close. But it's like... Why him and why so many times now?

I hope they turn it into a story or something eventually and he wins the big one. His performances up until now really haven’t warranted a world title run but if he keeps producing at this level, it’ll be hard to ignore. I’m bummed he didn’t win but I also think we can also acknowledge that the dude brought it tonight.

Interestingly, the losses to AJ Styles and Seth Rollins were when Shin was a heel, so seems like being bad doesn’t pay.

It's hard to find a comparison in wrestling history to this. Someone who has won a ton of shit at midcard level, even got one of the top accolades in a Royal Rumble win, but just can't crack the big one.

I think they expected him and AJ to have some crazy match at Mania and when they underperformed that was it for him. as someone that likes Shinsuke, it’s not like he’s given them a lot of reasons to get behind him. that seems to be changing now, though.

British Bulldog on TV/PPV in WWE and WCW went 0-11 in World Title matches. Lost 1992 Royal Rumble Defeated Vader by DQ at Slamboree 1993 Lost to Vader at Clash of the Champions 24 Lost to Diesel/HBJ at In Your House 3 Defeated Diesel by DQ at In Your House 4 Lost to Bret at In Your House 5 Draw with HBK at In Your House 8 Lost to HBK at King of the Ring 1996 Lost 6 Pack Challenge at Unforgiven 1999 Draw with HHH on Smackdown Lost to Big Show on Raw Davey has him beat on TV/PPV/PLE but Shinsuke has a double digit lead when you include house shows.

I think the best chance for him ever winning a World Title in WWE would be in NXT. Who wouldn't want to see him vs. Ilja anyway?

I went to Cagematch to look at Shinsuke's WWE World Title match record and including house shows I got his record at 0-51. Is that a record? Lol. I decided to look up Owen Hart and he was 0-67 by my count so not a record yet. Lots of house show losses to Bret in 1994.

He’s a strong upper midcard act that can be brought up for occasional main event programs. It’s a good spot for him, even if he never wins the world title.

Remember that time he beat AJ Styles clean in a non title match where the winner decided the title match stip, and then despite proving he can beat him clean Shinsuke chose a gimmick match and made things harder for himself?
That was the moment I knew he was never winning a world title. And lo and behold, they prove me right by making Shinsuke chose the same stip he lost AGAIN.

Thing is, in order for him to be credible, dude has to actually get the job done. After tonight, nobody is going to be buying him having a hope in hell of actually bringing home the bacon.

Possibly, though given they kept AJ as world champion despite his reign being really boring and him having shitty matches with Kevin Owens and some mediocre ones with Bryan, it definitely took two to tango.
