He’s a strong upper midcard act that can be brought up for occasional main event programs. It’s a good spot for him, even if he never wins the world title. Thing is, in order for him to be credible, dude has to actually get the job done. After tonight, nobody is going to be buying him having a hope in hell of actually bringing home the bacon. As noted before, 99% of the feud with Rollins was just Shin battering him and messing with him, which makes his two losses even more glaring.

It's weird. Nakamura's got accomplishments but the problem is that they book him as a utility main eventer at times which isn't his fault but more so the problem arises when you look at those he goes against. The times he loses against guys they're always presenting it like he almost got the job done but couldn't do it. "Super AJ Styles", "Super Seth Rollins", Jinder "We're putting a country on his back" Mahal, like I bet if someone like Sami Zayn were champion we wouldn't be seeing this, same with Dean Ambrose.
It's like Nakamura's one of the unluckiest people in the WWE history because whenever he faces the champion the champion's always at 120%. There's no way Rollins should have survived that shit.

Still not as bad as when Jinder Mahal was blatantly racist towards Nakamura and his entire culture in a live promo... and then won the match anyway. Seriously this dude choked harder than the Health Inspector in SpongeBob SquarePants.

Like, even if Nakamura won it from Mahal and then Mahal won it back, at least Nakamura would’ve had the title win locked in the vault. In general, he’s not being booked as a title challenger any differently from how they booked, for example, Kane. Dude spent two decades losing world title matches at least once every year, but the difference was that they got the banker win done real early, the one day run in 1998. Sure, it was flukey as shit but if we’re not going to acknowledge the context of how someone loses these matches, why should I acknowledge the context of how they win? It’s only fair. Basically, nobody cares how many times you lose world title matches as long as the other side isn’t a duck-egg. 0-6-2 draws more attention than the 3-20-4 that Kane was between his two world title wins in 1998 and 2010. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}1. Double pin draw with Undertaker and Austin (Breakdown 1998) (0-0-1) 2. No contest draw with Undertaker (Judgment Day 1998) (0-0-2) 3. Def. Mankind by DQ (1/11/99 RAW) (1-0-2) 4. Lost to Triple H (9/9/99 SmackDown) (1-1-2) 5. Lost Six Pack Challenge (Unforgiven 1999) (1-2-2) 6. Lost to Big Show by countout (11/22/99 RAW) (1-3-2) 7. Lost to Big Show (12/20/99 RAW) (1-4-2) 8. No contest draw with Triple H (1/31/00 RAW) (1-4-3) 9. No contest draw with Triple H (2/17/00 SmackDown) (1-4-4) 10. Def. Triple H, Vince and Shane (King Of The Ring 2000, Rock got the winning pin to win the title) (2-4-4) 11. Lost to Rock (8/28/00 RAW) (2-5-4) 12. Lost to Rock (9/7/00 SmackDown) (2-6-4) 13. Lost to Rock with Undertaker and Benoit (Unforgiven 2000) (2-7-4) 14. Def. Rock by DQ (10/5/00 SmackDown) (3-7-4) 15. Lost to Angle (1/25/01 SmackDown) (3-8-4) 16. Lost to Austin/Triple H (Backlash 2001) (3-9-4) 17. Lost to Triple H (No Mercy 2002) (3-10-4) 18. Lost Elimination Chamber (Survivor Series 2002) (3-11-4) 19. Lost to Triple H (6/23/03 RAW) (3-12-4) 20. Lost to Triple H with Goldberg (Armageddon 2003) (3-13-4) 21. Lost to Benoit (Bad Blood 2004) (3-14-4) 22. Lost to Benoit (6/28/04 RAW) (3-15-4) 23. Lost Elimination Chamber (New Year's Revolution 2006) (3-16-4) 24. Lost Battle Royal (7/20/07 SmackDown) (3-17-4) 25. Lost to Khali with Batista (Great American Bash 2007) (3-18-4) 26. Lost Championship Scramble (Unforgiven 2008) (3-19-4) 27. Lost Elimination Chamber (No Way Out 2009) (3-20-4)

The booking of that match was dogshit and has actively turned me against Rollins. I know he's gone through various stages of weasel-y, cunning, resilient etc. but tonight reminded me of the worst of Cena style booking which just does not fit Rollins. Shit end to an otherwise really good show.

I mean I'm glad Nakamura gets to make money and go surfing but there's no point investing in him if booking refuse to ever give him a run. They did the same shit with Samoa Joe.

That match kinda made me angry, and I really don't let wrestling do that to me.

Another sad day for us Nakamura fans.
I think I officially can't see Seth Rollins.

I wouldn't even say I'm a Nakmura fan and even I'm pissed off about this. He's probably done as a top contender.

Glad Nakamura got to main event but I didn't bother watching as the result was obvious.

It’s funny how they spent a decent while as kayfabe rivals, because once they both retire Nakamura and Hirooki Goto can share a drink and laugh over getting jobbed out in featured world title matches over and over.

And how much time does Nakamura have? Dude is not getting any younger, and now dude has another two failures in title matches on his record. He needed to get the job done, and once again he bottled it. Is Nakamura even going to be wrestling in five years time? You don't make a guy credible by having him fail 8 times to bring home the bacon.

I went to Cagematch to look at Shinsuke's WWE World Title match record and including house shows I got his record at 0-51. Is that a record? Lol. I'm sorry, but that's hilarious. 🤣

I wouldn't even say I'm a Nakmura fan and even I'm pissed off about this. He's probably done as a top contender. There is no more painful way to lose than The Choke. Right now it hurts, and after last night in Indy, he shouldn't get another top title match - He probably isn't going to be wrestling in another 5 years, and if he gets another title shot before he retires, it's going to be a hell of a job building it up, because everyone knows that when the chips are down, Nakamura is going to bottle it.

Lastnight firmly placed and cemented Nakamuras ceiling.
Even if he gets another shot somewhere before this is all said and done...no one is going to believe he is getting the job done because I say time and time again perception is reality is way more prevelent now in wrestling than perhaps ever...if the company shows them what a continual loser a talent is than hey they are a loser and thus there will be little to no interest in whatever they do moving forward because there is no other way things end for them except to lose again.
