Unless there was a mandate that said do not even allude to anything that doesn't involve your opponent or something like that, no need to fire Jack. The suspension is fine because it felt like he should know better with all the drama going around, but that's it

When was the last good decision Eric Bischoff made in the wrestling business, 25 years ago. Keep working the Conrad gimmick, brother.

Never is a strong word, I preferred Perry as a babyface but that's just my take on it.
Whenever Jack returns hopefully he learns from this and moves forward without any other problems.

Think this is a terrible take from Bischoff tbh, he was getting heat at literally the last event he worked in a match that kept the crowd hot after the MJF/Cole vs Aussie Open match, a different match without a heel doing his job well could have easily cooled the crowd right down.
He made a bit of a dim comment, it didn't justify the reaction from Punk and it doesn't justify people demanding he gets fired because he might not be a 'star', despite the fact he very easily could be. There's no 'never' with a guy his age especially when you think he's been a popular babyface and a heel getting the reactions you want while also being great in the ring. It's not like he's a problem child who isn't worth the effort, he had an issue with a guy who could start a fight in an empty room.

This is such an asinine take from Eric, like, more than usual.
In addition to all of the other reasons it's wrong, as people have pointed out, this is the same kind of shitty thinking that harms undercards and makes it difficult to really foster an environment where you can breed top stars, if you just assume people are all expendable, and that you can just have main eventers in the making facing other main eventers, like that doesn't result in a lack of focus in booking.

Bischoff is a Wendy's burger away from being another Cornette when it comes to AEW takes.

Was the "will never be world champion" always an argument or did it only become an argument after WWE's midcard died a sad death? Bischoff's stupidity doesn't interest me, but this line of thinking does. If a wrestler is destined to become a world champion but doesn't fulfill the promise, is there merit to say they are expendable opposed to putting them into the midcard? Is there more merit today then let's say during the attitude era?

we all know what happened under Bischoff in wcw how he helped drive away younger talent & talent that had potential to be main eventers, but we should judge him via his time in tna where he had time to look back on his mistakes and do things differently.
oh.

Bischoff's whole career is built off cutting the knees out from young talent.
- He came up in AWA, a territory notorious for Verne Gagne's geriatric stranglehold on the belt and refusal to really make anyone not named Gagne or Bockwinkel THE GUY (that, combined with his greed, cost him Hulk freakin' Hogan)
- He ends up in WCW and only manages to really make 2 stars out of homegrown talent in Goldberg and DDP because he's too busy having ex-WWE/F talent that are in the NWO bulldoze everyone
- in WWE he had no real authority so that doesn't count.
- in TNA he goes right back to the well again and he builds the whole show around Hulk Hogan, who at this point is literally incapable of working or taking a bump.
What I'm saying here is that Bischoff wouldn't know "a young star" if one put on a 5* clinic right after cutting a promo that would make The Rock give applause and popped the rating just shy of a Superbowl.

Of the 4 Pillars, Perry is the only one that is expendable. If I never saw Sammy again that would be just peachy.

Is there more merit today then let's say during the attitude era? I think there's more merrit now because the roster and pool of wrestlers outside aew is bigger. At some point it's best to not renew a contract to make room for someone with more potential. Depends what's been invested in them, what do they add to shows now, what's their ceiling, how old are they and who else fills a similar role. For example if in a few years it's becomes clear that Hook is never likely to progress to the top he's unique enough to still have a role in the midcard. However if Action Andretti has stalled then he's more expendable because there's likely to be a dozen similar younger wrestlers to choose from.

Eric burned down not one, but two wrestling companies... why do people care about his opinion?

I am a big fan of Jack Perry and am also enjoying his new heel character work. If I were Tony, I would put him together with Anna Jay and make them the new Rated R couple like Edge and Lita were. I could actually see this working well. You could also team his back with Christian. Have Jack apologize to Christian and tell him he was wrong. Christian forgives him and we have the ultimate heel group.

Bischoff is a Wendy's burger away from being another Cornette when it comes to AEW takes. Cornette could actually add value as a historian if he chose to do so instead of embracing the gimmick, Bischoff is a nothing; he's a guy who hitched his wagon to Hulk Hogan and has 2 years of success surrounded by years and years of failure. He's another Conrad gimmick, which is always "Chat me up about how much Meltzer was wrong while you remember half truths and flat out lies".

Man it's almost comforting that Bischoff is back to saying dumb shit. We're back to normal. Nature is healing. "He thinks using real glass will get him heat" is such a weird takeaway in the first place. I'm way more comfortable when Bischoff is saying stupid things like that.

Ah yes, the same man who let Steve Austin, Mick Foley, and Chris Jericho go. And you thought it’d be a great idea to unmask Rey Mysterio on a random TV episode.
Bischoff hasn’t had a good creative idea in 25 years at least.

It makes me so sad that Eric Bischoff and Jim Cornette, two of my favorite wrestling personalities from when I was a kid, have become such shock jock grifters as they’ve gotten older.
If TK offered to pay either one of them to manage Jack Perry tomorrow, they’d instantly start singing his praises.
