Wrestletix had it a bit over 80k tickets distributed total including comps so for the 81k sold number to be legit that would mean only around 1-2k comps at most. Tony himself though at the post-PPV scrum estimated around 9-10,000 comps. It seems very likely the 81k number was ballpark figure of total number of tickets distributed including comps which is in line with what Wrestletix had it at but it was announced on TV as fully tickets sold to sound more impressive and claim to have broken a paid record. If 81k tickets were distributed and 72k of them attended then 9k sounds like a huge number of people to not turn up for an event but it's more believable and in line with Wrestletix who are usually very accurate than almost 20k no-showing which would have to be the case if Tony's numbers were legit. Interesting, you’re right WrestleTix has 83,000 distributed and Khan said 9-10K comps, so that would mean the actual paid attendance is 73,000-74,000, and the estimate for Wrestlemania 32 is between 73K and 86K, so it seems likely that 32 would still be the highest paid attendance in history.

2) I've been f***ing painfully gassy all day and to come home and be reminded of that Lord f*** High of Shit Mountain WrestleMania that I was at made me pass a fart so loud and painful that my sadness has been redirected to memories of how I felt walking to my car that night. About the fart or WrestleMania 32?

So, anybody else really just enjoy a good, warm, flaky Caribbean meat patty? Hard to say if the ground beef or the jerk chicken is best, but it probably depends which country's cuisine it's inspired by.
Or do you forsake the patties and just go for empanadas?

AEW having 72,000 people at their first big international show IS be an accomplishment in itself, even though I'm not a big AEW fan, I'll still say that's a great crowd for a 5 year old company. But that had to go for a low blow and try to one up WWE. Now instead of it being about AEWs success at Wembley Stadium, people are taking the piss out off AEW. The night should have been about AEW and the success of a young company having a huge crowd. It turned into "AEW HAS THE RECORD FOR MOST ATTENDANCE IN WERESTLING HISTORY." They just cannot go one night without trying to "one up" WWE, when it should have been touting the successes of their own company.

It's pretty obvious that Brandon Thurston from Wrestlenomics created this article for the sole purpose of creating bad faith/concern troll arguments against AEW.
EDIT: Even if Brandon Thurston is 100% correct, his reason for writing this article is just to create bad faith/concern troll arguments against AEW

They still do have the highest paid attendance in wrestling history, unless someone finds definitive proof about 32 But it wasn't just a WWE thing, there were WCW shows on that list too, and New Japan shows they passed WWE happened to be at the top because of 32. This wasn't some company tribalism, assholes on the internet made it that.

God damn a lot of you need to grow the f*** up on both sides of the issue….hell I know we split years ago, but a lot of the old crowd here joined up because of a website that took the piss out of wrestling…
Too many sensitive ass people on both sides of the aisle with this stupid ass tribalism…

Yeah unfortunately we cannot in good faith say either way if it was ALL IN or 32 now like Thurston said so talking in definites on either side does no good. This also isn't an "innocent until guilty" situation just likely heat of the moment reporting by AEW and Khan based on the numbers they had at the time...Votes etc come in short all the time...Arguing over one of the biggest shows of all time though is crazy and a pretty nice problem for aew to have each year

Certainly seems like that to me. A stronger card with a better build and we'd have a different story. Maybe we'll get that next year...?

So…. a show that was projected to be a massive success turns out to be a massive success?
Oh no, that’s turrible. They doomed.

Speaking of tribalism, let’s talk about my tribe: Did anyone check out “You’re So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah” on Netflix? Adam Sandler and his family doing culturally Jewish things will always hit the right notes. I’m sure it was a massive success despite having detractors

It could've been an all time great card filled up and down with matches that'd Meltzer plotz, and that stupid drama with Punk and Perry would've overshadowed it. Controversy courts publicity.

So I have to ask, who the f*** cares? You’ve posted on this topic 11 times in three hours and counting. Why do you care how much I post in a thread or why? I've replied to several different things this thread has produced in those three hours, me asking "Who cares?" about the in house and paid attendance difference is still a valid point, liked by others, and responded to by others as well who did or didn't care either So this'll happily be my 12th post in this thread, and I have no regrets about it, have a great day.
