Two things; 1) chill out. This is not worth some of the posts people are having and I’m not afraid to give people breaks about it. 2) I’ll say again; read the article. They still sold that many tickets, that is not a lie. In the same way the estimate for WM32 that WWE said to its shareholders wasn’t a lie, just never gave a definitive number to (which does make it a problem in figuring things out fully but nothing new with how these things are tracked in America). It’s all in there, no reason for me to disbelieve Wrestlenomics on this stuff. How do you know they sold this many tickets? Are their books public? Why are we so sure?

So the number of tickets purchased was 80k. WrestleTix had a number just above that of total tickets distributed. And this number of 72k concerns how many people actually went to the event. But the number of people in attendance was never the record; the record was how many tickets were sold. And this number of 72k has nothing to do with how many tickets were sold.
Can someone please explain where the meat is on this nothing-burger?

Figured you’d be working overtime on this Lmfao Yeah buddy, what the f*** ever at this point. AEW in the mud, Tony's a liar bitch etc. Believe what you want, it's not worth the headache. This is the exact type of stuff I was afraid this thread would produce, it wasted no time. Dude, you need to start using the block function more. I blocked him a long time ago and my experience here has been much better for it. Just block him and move on.

Because, again, Wrestlenomics and WrestleTix do the leg work in estimating this stuff from their sources and get the information out, they do it for all the companies and so I have zero reason to not believe them. Especially since they’re the only people actually doing the work to find this stuff out. Like, they did the legal leg work to get this number in the same way they did the legal leg work to get the other numbers. If you find me a reason to disbelieve them besides your hunches or whatever you’re doing, hey, pass it over.

Wish the block feature actually worked as a block feature but I did try it once on a user, it really doesn't serve to actually block I'm over it, some peeps wanna feel the way they want to feel and look for any reason to dig at the company, I can tell you one thing, it's not worth getting suspended over whether or not AEW's record breaking numbers are real.

Yep the only real confusion comes from 32 and where those numbers actually fell it seems...enough of a confusion though for Thurston to include the lines he did about the record now being unclear. This is way too ambiguous and we will likely get a full breakdown soon.

It would be the first stadium show in history where the physical attendance was less than the tickets sold. Wrestlenomics has not really certified any type of number re: All In. He just restates the Wrestlerix estimate. Thurston literally wrote today “nonetheless, it's unclear whether All In 2023 or Wrestlemania 32 had the higher number of ticket sales.” Also, there’s other FOIA requests for this show which will come out. I know one is on on what number the local Police were told by Wembley to prepare for. Stems from the FOIA request

In the end I don't give a shit who had the higher attendance, I'm just happy wrestling can draw numbers like this from two completely separate companies
In the end, semantics about numbers aside, and who got more numbers than who or why, I just am happy that wrestling can prove to draw as big event as anything in the world.

It would be the first stadium show in history where the physical attendance was less than the tickets sold. I mean, would it? Do you have certified proof of that? Can we have a list? And why would that matter considering what other people have said about rail strikes and the turn stalls not working. We just had someone have an eye witness account of the number actually being lower by one, for example. The WrestleTix number was done because WT do the work and make sure their numbers are accurate as it was. And one of the reasons the 32 number is up in the air is because the estimate is so broad between 75-85k. It says in the article. Great. So there’s more to come out and you can hold off from accusing anyone of lying before more requests come out. Glad we can clear that up.

LOL why do we care if I call a MULTI BILLIONAIRE a liar? Why are we so defensive for Tony Khan? Is it against the rules? Boot licking behavior.

Calling someone a liar when they didn't lie isn't "Boot licking behavior" it's literally just pointing out logic in an argument where you keep failing to provide any backup to prove your side. Like nothing in the article states what Tony Khan or AEW said is a lie. Just straight up. Now you're the one getting pissed we're stating what the article has said.

Ahh, so you’re going to ignore the questions I asked and antagonize people instead. Cool. If you’re just going to do that, you might as well take the week off to maybe learn not to do that.

This news has me somewhere between Stephen Colbert's first "truthiness" Word of the Day bit and the "It's Still Real to Me, Damn It!" meme guy.
Weirdly, both truthiness and ISR2MDI debuted as things in our world in late 2005.

Wrestletix had it a bit over 80k tickets distributed total including comps so for the 81k sold number to be legit that would mean only around 1-2k comps at most. Tony himself though at the post-PPV scrum estimated around 9-10,000 comps.
It seems very likely the 81k number was ballpark figure of total number of tickets distributed including comps which is in line with what Wrestletix had it at but it was announced on TV as fully tickets sold to sound more impressive and claim to have broken a paid record.
If 81k tickets were distributed and 72k of them attended then 9k sounds like a huge number of people to not turn up for an event but it's more believable and in line with Wrestletix who are usually very accurate than almost 20k no-showing which would have to be the case if Tony's numbers were legit.

They sold 80k+ that's what matters most imo.
Only Wrestlemania I've ever been to was 32 😂 I actually had a great time. It actually reminds me of All In with regard to the issues they both had pulling together a card that fit the size of the show.

A completely trivial thing to be mad about but considering there are two different companies and a "record" at play it's pretty wild...I understand the numbers being off by a few hundred but around 9 thousand people unaccounted for (enough for an entire show) is freakin wild. Guess Khan could have just purchased them to hit the number haha this is ate up but certainly nothing more than pointing at someone and laughing and going "HA HA YOUR RICH" Tony Khan is a wrestling promoter. He is a liar. They have always been one in the same. 0/10 Get better bait. BTW this is the narrative that I'm always referencing that has completely worn me down

I guess I'll chime in on two fronts.
1) I'm guessing they sold around 75k with 81k distributed. Between secondary market, comps, and others that couldn't make it 73k doesn't seem crazy. To nearly double what WCW's best solo effort was and potentially match or beat WWE is amazing. For people to lose their shitty little minds over this, ignoring the positive to suckle on the bitter juicy negative teat of a tribal "win" shows how f***ed certain minds haves been made.
2) I've been f***ing painfully gassy all day and to come home and be reminded of that Lord f*** High of Shit Mountain WrestleMania that I was at made me pass a fart so loud and painful that my sadness has been redirected to memories of how I felt walking to my car that night.
