Oh no, that’s still a really high amount for a first time wrestling show done by a new company and it only means a bunch of people didn’t attend for a reason or another.
AEW in the mud, dead as shit.

It still literally says the paid attendance for the show, as in tickets distributed, was still 80K plus.
So I have to ask, who the f*** cares? And why would this be posted in any other sense other than give anyone a bad faith/concern troll argument?

It would be more paid number of tickets and not paid attendance since so many didn’t actually attend.

Gonna be honest, that one WM3 attendance thread wasn't exactly made by a good faith poster either. Arguing the numbers and constantly looking for asterisks just feels like it isn't being done in good faith on a board that's already been up to its neck in discourse about statistical numbers and AEW especially.

Nothing about this feels like it's being posted for "historical relevance", it feels like it's being posted as a way to say "Hey the cool groundbreaking thing AEW did? WELL ACTUALLY they didn't do it because look at this!" This board's been exhausting enough as it is arguing about semantics and how AEW might "be on a decline", this isn't helping.

I don’t think we need policing on these things as much as just putting out there to read the article. They still sold 81k tickets, they said as much, none of that’s a lie. 89% of people still attended which is a lot. That’s really the beginning and end of it. EDIT: And to add to the discourse, the article itself even said “only” 80k attended WrestleMania 32 which is still a damn lot in the wider context even without the inflated number Vince literally admitted to shareholders about.

Apologies if I turned that into a bit of vent myself, but yes, you are correct about that. In the end AEW made history and that really can't be taken away from them.

I think that it’s good to know what the actual numbers were. 🤷🏻♂️

If the shoe was on the other foot and this came out about a WWE show, you know there'd be a thread. I think my issue is the discourse that’ll come from it from people but then if people were to do that, they’ll know what happens from the other times people have tried it. But then I’m a mod so I have a dog in that fight. Besides that…89% attendance is good. I’d argue it’d be around 90-95% if rail strikes weren’t the previous day but that’s just my own speculation.

Does this include comps or just people who paid for tickets and showed up?
