Cody at Backlash 24 “Well I guess the story doesn’t have to say which Samoan I beat..” I don't see it happening, but I mean, he wants the WWE title. I don't think it's really as important who he wins it from, even if Roman would be the ideal.

Eh that’s an ancient Polynesian thing so I give them a pass on that part. Yeah, they are family in every way that matters.

Punk signs. Cody beats Roman at the Rumble for the title. Rock returns. Mania is headlined by: WWE Universal Title: Cody Rhodes (c) vs. CM Punk Tribal Combat: The Rock vs. Roman Reigns World Title: Seth Rollins (c) vs. Gunther Jey Uso vs. Jimmy Uso Punk would want his match to go on last, and he would probably want the second night. Dude would not consider anything less as the main event. At this stage and looking at just how bad CM Punk as the "Real Worlds Champ" was and how much Jimmmy Uso is struggling to get traction as a solo act and how poorly he comes off compared to his brothers, Punk vs Cody and Uso vs Uso don't have much appeal. Jey vs Solo Sikoa in a street fight would have much more heat, be more over with the Philly crowd and would be better story with Solo having been given up on then abandoned. If CM Punk comes back and gets his mojo back, and Jimmmy Uso steps up and doesn't look subpar against Jey and Solo, then those matches should be on the 'mania card. Otherwise, no way.

Most overrated wrestler of all time who has always lived off the same old tired catchphrases which were never great in my book and in ring he was never even that good in his prime let alone how bad he'd be now. Stay retired Dwayne. I think the 4 biggest PPV buyrates all involve him

I think Cody-Punk is a big-time match with a lot of juice, even with all of Punk’s baggage. Punk would still be a huge deal at this point. Not expecting this to happen, mind you. Vince’s MO is typically to make the big attraction match as big as possible and that would mean Roman vs. Rock for the title, even if it doesn’t “need” it.

I still can't believe WWE dedicated an entire PPV to the Rock two years ago and he did almost nothing for it.

Can’t wait! Hope it happens, with Cody also getting his moment as well somehow. Roman vs Rock is the match I’ve been waiting for since The Head of the Table/Tribal Chief run started. It ‘finishes the story’ for me.

If it were to happen, I think it would be terrible television because you know The Rock would once again be completely out of touch blabbering on and on about getting tattoos on your ass and making fun of Paul Heyman's physical appearance. Yeah, that would build the personal issue between two men who, in storyline, want to win an athletic competition.

Rock v Roman would be better at one of the Saudi shows where the spectacle is the attraction and the fans would forgive a short and sometimes sloppy match.
Mania main event is 30+ minutes and should be the best match of the night. Rock’s cardio and ring rust can’t do that.

This is now my least favorite match of all time and it hasn't even happened yet. I myself love The Rock (even in his 50s) but the actual match might go as smooth as this one. 🤐

I think the world of Dwayne, but I prefer his last ever match to have been against RoWan, not RoMan.

He'll probably have Rock in a bearhug while talking to Rock's mom for most of it.

If Rock vs Roman happens in Philly Mania, let alone for the belts, not only am I gonna just absolutely collapse like Roderick Strong but the fact that means Roman wins again at a Mania and keeps his belts, but Cody doesn't get the moment that HHH was screaming at fans to "JUST WAIT GUYS"
And no, him winning the belts at the Rumble does not make losing at Mania better, because the entire f***ing point of this slog is that Cody was going to "FINISH THE STORY" at a WrestleMania, so really this would be a flat out travesty all around if they went with this.
I'm just flat out sick of The Rock and nostalgia bait. I'm not denying that it wouldn't be a match people want to see, but all this would be happening because of the strikes and it'd f*** everything up and I'm really not a fan of any of the optics bring presented as possibilities.

No interest in seeing a not-ready-for-wrestling Rock have to be carried to a decent match by Roman.

I still can't believe WWE dedicated an entire PPV to the Rock two years ago and he did almost nothing for it. The year after Rock was more than willing to induct Ken Shamrock by video call to the Impact HOF. It’s still extremely bizarre that all happened.

No interest in seeing a not-ready-for-wrestling Rock have to be carried to a decent match by Roman. Roman matches are barely even actual matches at this point, it isn't that outside of the realm of possibility. They're 20 minutes of standing around and making dramatic faces with maybe 5 minutes of actual work.

I bought pretty good seats to Mania on the promise of Cody/Roman II. I don't think I'd be alone in doing that. Rock/Roman would be f***ing terrible and enough for me to consider just calling the whole trip off. I was at Rock's debut at MSG front row as a kid and got to go to Mania 29. I'm good.

I’m sure 99% of fans casual or internet would rather see Cody vs Roman II than Rock vs Roman for the title at mania 40
