I didn't mind Cole as the devil though I wonder if the main event for World's End was supposed to be MJF/Cole 2 if he didn't get injured.
As long as we don't get a TNA 10-10-10 explanation for Cole's heel turn, I'm cool with it.

The twist everyone saw coming. It makes sense, and circumstances conspired against them but it would have been nice if there had been a little more sizzle at the end... In all honesty, I'd have made it Britt though. Gives her something new to do, easy to make it make sense and gives it a bit of a twist still. Unless TBS is gonna okay MJF flat out punching her in the face, which quite frankly I really don’t want to see, then her as the Devil would’ve sucked. Yay, the mystery villain is someone you can never possibly get revenge on. Laaaame |

But if Cole hadn't got injured maybe they would have got to the Devil reveal sooner and MJF/Cole III but MJF is no longer champion by then? |

Adam Cole is, and has been, one of my favourite wrestlers for a decade. I just re-watched the end of the PPV and I want to kill him, so credit to AEW and this angle for making me really hate Cole right now. AEW's been missing that one hateable heel that becomes an "on sight" situation whenever you see them. Swerve would've been that, but he's gotten over with crowds now that they'll probably pivot him to being an anti-hero. I think Cole's that hateable heel now. |

He’d have a valid reason for him being pissed at Roddy for what he sees as “trivializing” the very real injury he suffered for a cheap laugh. |

In the end, Cole really comes out of this as about as evil a character as you can ask for: dude decided to just mentally and emotionally ruin Max and leave him with nothing, even if it meant putting the World title on Samoa "Thanks for the help, but if you step to me now I'll kill you and you know it" Joe.
Also enjoyed parts of the execution last night: Cole entering to his normal theme threw the scent off just a bit while also getting everyone's wheels to start turning, the ref bump seemed for sure like it should lead to a run-in (the whole lower bowl was turning to the entrance ramp right away), and they managed to keep things in doubt until the last moment with the lights going out...yes, in the end it was the most expected outcome, but it worked better than if Cole had just waited for Max's back to be turned and then whacked him with a crutch.
Only drawback? I have to admit, a part of me kind of wanted Roderick to be taken by surprise in all of this and end up becoming a goofy ass babyface. He hit that knee to Max to remind me that, oh yeah, Strong still strikes like a killer, but I kind of wanted a moment of "ADAAAAAM! ...A-Adam?"

It’s wrestling. 1. You expect to see the people feuding fight 2. “Hey I stole your boyfriend’s title” feels like you’re taking away Brit’s agency to a degree. I thought the reveal was well done, nothing overly hokey, and Cole came across exactly the way you'd want him to. Obviously some will be disappointed it was Cole and not some big shock (I didn't personally think there was a potential debut interesting enough for this angle personally) but he always made the most sense as the orchestrator and the one with the biggest emotional value to him. Only minor issue was Wardlow really did stand out like a sore thumb, looked a bit of an odd fit in a group with Taven, Bennett and Roddy.
It's definitely sad that it's the end of the MJF/Cole bromance but they have great chemistry together, a blood feud would probably be better than continuing what they were doing before as that kind of thing has a shelf life plus this can bring out Max's vulnerabilities and struggles with trusting more which. Be interesting to hear everybody's explanations too, like how long Cole was stringing Max along, what Wardlow's exact motivations are going forward etc.
