Now that the battle lines have been drawn.
On Raw, we have Raw GM Adam Pearce and on Smackdown we have GM Nick Aldis.
Once all the invasions of each show begins and the dust has settled.
Which superstars will team up and represent the brand represented by the respective GM?
All I know is I can see Owens on one side and Zayn on the other in the war games steel cage match.

Even besides the prospect of a new Under Siege, there has to be a crucial moment when Raw/SD are tied and Pearce is forced to rely on Chelsea to get Raw over the line. The pathos.

I think the whole point of Aldis and Pearce is to be neutral authority figures just to book matches and stuff. They're not going to be important enough that the main event of a major PPV is hyped around Team Pearce v Team Aldis. I don't even think it will be Raw v Smackdown.
I don't know if it will 4 v 4, 5 v 5 or 6 v 6 but I think it will be some combination of the babyface avengers of Cody/Jey/Knight/Cena/Sami/KO/Seth v Bloodline/JD members with maybe Drew also ending up on the heel side. The heel side will not be able to trust each other and will completely implode and the faces get the big win heading into Mania season.
For the women's war games I can maybe see that being Jade's in-ring debut and both the face and heels spend the weeks leading up to it trying to recruit her to be on their team.

War Games should be the Judgement Day/Bloodline vs the Sami/KO/Cody/Jey/LA Knight/maybe Cena. If there is going to be any brand warfare, have it be Rollins vs Reigns. They never had a fued where Seth is the face and Roman is the heel. It writes itself in a lot of ways

You can't recreate the magic of the first Brand Warfare after the split back in 2016 when in one of her first acts on the main roster, babyface Bayley, who spread joy and hugs around NXT, took part in a heel beatdown and spent much of it pounding on Nikki Bellas ass.

I understand in that it's an obnoxious crutch WWE has relied on for nearly 20 years, off-and-on, but I think it would be perfectly fine if there were actual stakes. Thing is, it really has never been acknowledged why the wrestlers should give a shit. If they did something like, "Also, the winning team each have guaranteed shots at the various titles, to be decided on by the winning GM", that'd be something. Even give some storyline hooks for "the GM screwed me by giving the other guy the world title shot", or two of the guys being paired for a tag title shot, etc. Instead, it's, "we wear blue and red t-shirts for a month because reasons." |
