If Flair's deal is tied in to this sponsorship deal and stuff, it might not be easy to get out of unless Flair does something new.

But, I'd take Flair being paid to sit at home over him being paid to stink up my TV.

Twitter opinions being a relatively small vocal subsection of most audiences is something many people and companies should remember. It's a sensible approach to take them on board but not give them more weight than they merrit.


But even if Flair had a squeeky clean past and a large chunk of the audience was happy to see him right now I can't imagine many would feel the same in a few weeks, months or years down the line because he adds nothing these days.

And usually even if you dislike someone there's always chance they surprise you with a good match or character reinvention. Some were down on Christian signing but he's had some great matches and has a new schtick that's working for him. Flair can't impress in ring and nobody thinks he can reinvent himself. His comments already suggest it's all about him getting the spotlight. And he's not even started shilling mushroom juice yet.

Ric Flair is probably one of my top 3 all time favourite pro-wrestlers.

I don't see the value in bringing Ric Flair into a wrestling promotion the size of AEW in 2023, especially as an on screen talent. I just don't see any benefits whatsoever? He's not a compelling on screen presence anymore, brings a boatload of baggage, he has never been known as a good trainer, agent, booker etc. backstage.

I appreciate there's this sponsorship deal but I can't imagine they could not have sought out something equally as competitive, particularly when you factor in not having to deal with Ric's bullshit as part of an alternative package.

There is truth to this, like you don't want to make decisions off of Twitter alone, it's a really bad place to do that for almost anything lol

Here's the thing, live crowds are cheering and bowing to Flair still, until that changes, TK might not listen with live reactions like that. It needs to be more widespread and whether it's been here or WWE, Ric doesn't get boos from live audiences, at least not right now.

I wonder what kind of bad blood will eventually transpire. Flair never leaves a company on good terms and there's usually some kind of litigation in the end. I guess it'll be related to the energy drink deal. Like he'll claim they didn't promote it enough or something.

WWE - Thought he deserved financial compensation over Becky Lynch using "The Man" and threatened legal action and called her out for 2-3 years.

WCW - Walked out with their world title and they had to file a lawsuit to get it back.

TNA - Threw a hissy fit because he wanted out of his contract to go to WWE and TNA filed suit against WWE immediately after.

ROH - Got paid in advance for shows, no-showed them and didn't return the money then ROH sued to get their money back. I don't think they ever got it but hey, since he now works for them again in a way maybe Tony can dock the owed money from his first payment.
