A win over him hasn’t felt like an achievement in 20 years.

A win over him hasn’t felt like an achievement in 20 years. Yeah...I don't see how Hobbs beating him is gonna elevate him to some "next level" at all. He beat a broken down Paul Wight...okay? And any power stuff Hobbs can do to Wight, while it will look impressive, has already been done to death by the Lesnar's and Cena's that came before him. The only way I can see Willie Hobbs getting ANY kind of rub from this is if he just destroys Paul Wight and "retires" him for good.

I think it kinda makes sense to use him in a big multi man match as an attraction, but the timing of him making his in ring return at a time with so many WWE veterans being used is probably not gonna do him any favours perception wise.

I’ll say it plainly: Paul Wight and Mark Henry are a waste of money for AEW. For all the legacy they have to their name, neither brings enough to the table to justify an exorbitant salary or tv time.

They should straight-up recreate every Cena vs. Show match ever with lots of "Can Hobbs lift up Paul Wight for the Attitude Adjustment?" all match and then Hobbs actually does the AA instead of any of his own moves.

We spent years deriding the guy when he was way more capable of doing more stuff (he was getting “PLEASE RETIRE” chants nearly a decade ago), yet at the most visibly beat up he’s seemingly ever been, there’s meant to be a tangible benefit for Hobbs? It can’t just be as something as simple as “He’s not squashing any midcarders first, we’re jumping straight into the putting over”, can it?

I’ll say it plainly: Paul Wight and Mark Henry are a waste of money for AEW. For all the legacy they have to their name, neither brings enough to the table to justify an exorbitant salary or tv time. But neither are there to do stuff primarily on screen. Both have done a ton for AEW in other departments we don't see. Both have done a ton of charity and PR projects for AEW, not to mention coaching other backstage duties I'm sure they've been a part of. Saying they're a waste of money is simply not true when you take their primary duties into account. As for wrestling? I see him doing this match and then disappearing for months again. I doubt his body is going to allow him to do more than a match every so often. Regardless though of how we see him, to a lot of the audience they're going to see Hobbs wreck a 7 foot tall monster. It doesn't matter to a lot of people how he looks or moves or how he's been booked, sometimes people are just interested in the spectacle. Really don't see this being a big deal, dudes a body in an 8 man tag that'll be there to do his thing and get murked.

I'm fine with it. But man it looks like he's an action figure that got one of his legs put on backwards.

A win over him hasn’t felt like an achievement in 20 years. That'd come as a surprise to Braun Strowman, honestly, given how much his matches with Big Show helped legitimize him. (Not that he didn't eventually f*** that up, but that's not on Paul.) Yeah, it's very easy to dismiss Wight, but when used correctly, he can effectively put people over. Of course, it has to be done correctly, or it's just kind of a, "Okay, neat" win and quickly forgotten.

Feels like this is more or less a match to give the visual of Hobbs either hitting a Worlds Strongest Slam or Spinebuster on Wight no? More or less a chance to really build him as the beast of the Callis family.

Shows how much I was paying attention. Still, I reckon they can pull some smoke and mirrors and just have Paul hit his big moves..

Like he shouldn't be having any high-profile singles matches. But being a big body in an 8 man tag match is perfectly fine.

This is one of those things where it’s only a big negative or even worth discussing if it’s more than this. If it’s just one match, it’s really not worth being concerned at all about.
