He would be really effective at a general manager/commissioner type role, but AEW doesn’t do those. Could even do classic authority figure fights current star angle to give those same young guys the rub. Instead he’s haphazardly thrown into an 8 man tag based off a tag team from WWE 13 years ago. Such is life with AEW.

I think he's probably going to eat a pin from Hobbs to put him over. At least that's what I'd do with him.

I love Show, but he's probably at a point where even if he wants to give back, he looks like he cant.

The only way I can see Willie Hobbs getting ANY kind of rub from this is if he just destroys Paul Wight and "retires" him for good.

They should straight-up recreate every Cena vs. Show match ever with lots of "Can Hobbs lift up Paul Wight for the Attitude Adjustment?" all match and then Hobbs actually does the AA instead of any of his own moves.

Truth be told, Hobbs' AA would probably look miles better than the "weeeeeee! Slam" that Cena does

Poor bastard's knees look terrible and he could barely stand. I hope this is his last in ring appearance and he stays purely as a personality or backstage. His time on Elevation developed him into a pretty decent commentator alongside Daddy Magic and he's a much loved figure over the years so fans would certainly accept him as a commissioner sort of role.

Paul Wight was in Australia promoting the forthcoming special and he guest appeared on Downunder The Ring. He said he’s hoping to return to in-ring competition. Wight added that Tony Khan paid him a ‘sh*t ton of money’ to wrestle and he has not been able to do much of anything.

"God, I hope so (I can get back in the ring) because Tony Khan paid me a sht ton of money to get in the ring and so far, I haven’t done sht so… I did, I did (take a bump onto a car). Then right after that, I went and got my knee replaced. Thanks Will Hobbs (he laughed)."

Khan acquired the intellectual property for Captain Insano so that Wight could use it in AEW. Wight is hoping to bring the character to Grand Slam in Australia.

He revealed that him and Tony have been waiting to pull the trigger on a Captain Insano run and the wait is his own fault. Wight has not done much in AEW lately because Khan is giving him time to get ready. Wight wants to end his career how Sting did.

"I have heard from him (Captain Insano). I heard his fat-ass had a knee surgery a couple of months ago but is hoping he’ll be back real soon and definitely I hope he’s gonna compete in February here in Brisbane. So, yeah, a lot of that was intellectual property and Tony Khan actually — because I lost The Big Show. That’s WWE intellectual property, which is tough when you build a brand for 20 years but it’s business. I understand. It is what it is. But, building yourself a new identity is like starting all over. People always gonna identify you as one thing. Yeah! I’m not that guy anymore. I’m this other guy. Captain Insano is a pretty cool gift. Tony Khan worked it out, got the intellectual property rights for me. So, we’ve been waiting to pull the trigger on that and I’ll be honest, a lot of it’s been my fault. Having surgeries and stuff like that so, it’s about me getting in the gym, training, getting ready where I feel comfortable because it’s basically a one-shot run. I can’t pull the trigger on this half-assed and go out and fail. When I pull the trigger on Captain Insano, it’s gonna be 100 percent. We run that till the wheels fall off and then we ride off into the sunset… I just wanna make sure that when I bring that character out, whatever Tony asks me to do, I can do. Whether it’s tag, singles, working twice a week, three times a week. Whatever it is, I’m able to do it so, that’s why I really haven’t been doing a lot of things on AEW because being the awesome boss that Tony Khan and he’s giving me the time to basically get my sh*t straight and get ready for it. I mean, believe me, there’s an unbelievable amount of pressure on myself to get this done and get this in a way where the fans are appreciative of seeing me compete again and not like a, ‘Oh, that sucks. Shoot him. Put him out of his misery.’ Like old yeller. Take me out back and put me down. I don’t wanna get put down yet. I kind of wanna go out like Sting did. Have a nice little run. Have some great matches, work with some of this amazing, young talent we have in AEW and then, slide out. That goal accomplished and then, I’ll move to New York and become a world-famous playwright. It’s a joke, because I can’t spell… Grand Slam: Australia and hopefully Captain Insano will have a match and we’re actually gonna see a 400-pound guy in spandex… So let me correct that. The last time I saw him just simply try and walk to the ring I felt really bad for him.

I hope he's able to get his knees at a place where he can walk without looking like his knees are going to buckle under him.

I mean, I assume he had surgery for a reason.

I don't think that he's going to come back as Tiger Mask or something, but I get that he wants to retire on his own terms. I just hope he is realistic about it, though I could see AEW putting him with a tag team, grabbing the 6-man titles or something, and then calling it a day just do say he was a champ at least once. Do I need it? Not really, but I wouldn't be mad about it, either.

I want him to try the stem cell treatments before I say he should retire. Stemcells have Rey Mysterio moving like he was 22 back in 2018, and Big Show was far from the worst big man wrestler during his heyday. If he can at least get the treatments to feel better, and maybe wear something closer to his late 2002 run, I wouldn't mind seeing him work a couple programs before riding off into the sunset. He could at least do something in the Tag or Trios division.
