During an interview with the Battleground Podcast, Paul Wight has discussed his plans to retire. Confirming he will be stepping away from the ring in a couple of years, but right now, he is trying to help out younger talent.

“I probably got a year-and-a-half, two years left before I retire . It’s just really about trying to help this younger talent and then moving on to that commentary role, and then it’s up to the younger talent. Right now, I’m still froggy and want to have fun and play a little bit, but I’ve had plenty of matches, I’ve done plenty of tours, I’ve had plenty of rivalries, and right now it’s kind of like helping the product out.”

The reason I created this thread is because his return also caused a lot of negative reception(besides Flair signing) due how his knees currently look and him "stealing" tv time from others.

Him saying in that podcast that he wants to put over young talent then I could see him putting over Hobbs and Paul takes another hiatus until he gets called when he is needed...

It's ironic that "special attraction" booking, which is what he needed from the get go, only started occurring towards the tail end.

Kyle Fletcher sold Paul Wight's punch like god himself struck him with a thunderbolt, though.

He needs to visit Kevin Nash’s doctor, because Nash’s legs looked exactly like that a few years ago, and he’s looking great now after a hip alignment procedure and a knee replacement.

First match since 2021 when he was squashing people on Elevation, outside of that first match since All Out 2021 when he squashed QT.

Well that and the thought is Hobbs beating Big Show will put him over big time. That's the point, like the whole point.

He's making up the numbers in an eight man tag. As long as that's the only type of stuff he does, I really don't care either way. If Hobbs is able to throw him around a little, the visual of that and how it'll put over Hobbs is enough for me.

Compared to the Flair news, this doesn't bother me.

I figure Paul is in the match so Hobbs can probably spinebuster him through a table or something for the win.

Weelllll. I hope whom ever he puts over has a Big Showing and becomes a Gaint star. Him doing anything else at this point of his career would be really Insano and quite apPaulling. Question is, will he be face or heel, his alignment are always black and Wight

Anyone who is surprised about this hasn't been paying attention, given he's always been open about it.

He did also say he wants to face Kenny Omega sometime, though, and I really am unsure how the hell that'd work, minus that Kenny would probably have to win with a V-Trigger or like, randomly doing a 450 or the like. No way in hell would he able to do a One Winged Angel on him.

Always had a soft spot for the big guy because he was one of the guys who got me into wrestling but he's not looking great. Weight wise he looks good but those legs look a bit rough.

For what it's worth i'm happy to see him get another match but i just hope that he's still up for it.

That picture of him in the OP is horrible. He looks like a guy who just finished up working a double shift at the factory and the only thing keeping him awake is the 5 Hour Energy he drank four hours ago.

If he's there for Hobbs to dominate I can live with it. Otherwise he's a nice guy but I've been sick of him on TV for 20 years

If Hobbs can get him up for a spinebuster or worlds strongest slam then I think Tall Paul’s involvement will be worth it for the visual alone. It’s one of those images that would look impressive to anybody.

However, I don’t want him having a 5-10 minute Paul Wight on top spot. He needs to be in and out quick in my opinion.
