Watching a WWF compilation on YouTube and its a match between Kerry Von Erich and Rick Martel.
During it Lord Alfred Hayes on commentary accidentally calls Kerry, "Kevin", which Sean Mooney corrects and says, "You're thinking of his brother Kevin Von Erich."
I believe this is also the only time one of Kerry's brothers were referred to on commentary.
What are other examples of this? I know Larry "The Ax" Hennig got mentioned a few times in reference to Mr. Perfect. Jim Ross also asks Randy Savage about you know all about Jeff Jarrett's father, which Randy says nothing in response but changes the subject implying the bad history between the Poffos and Jarretts.
Any other instances?

From 2001- 2014, JR would make references to Sting every now and then (particularly during the Invasion angle and during Shelton’s first face run).
During the Invasion angle, JR made references to Ric Flair.

I could have sworn that the term Frankensteiner was used either before or after Scott Steiner was in the WWF.

"You think you impress the Rock? Why? Because a couple of months ago you were down south beating some jabroni named Juventud?"
Jericho reacted well mouthing "I took his mask!"
Recently we've had "Less Famous Miz" which Edge gave a nudge-nudge reference to on the following week's Raw so we know even back then he was watching Dynamite.

Hulk Hogan mentioning Vince McMahon every week when he was in TNA. I assume we're talking example's in WWE because they're frequent in many other promotions, especially old TNA, vkm and all that crap. Or more acceptable like references on commentary. Quite often left wondering wtf people are talking about.

During the Invasion angle, JR made references to Ric Flair. JR also mentioned Flair during Sable's entrance at Unforgiven 1998, comparing the pop Sable got to what Flair would get if he was making an entrance in the same city (Greensboro, NC).

In Owen Hart's brief WCW run, they talked about the Hart family but I don't think they ever mentioned Bret by name.
In late 80's WCW, Jim Ross referenced Warrior in comparison to Sting, and how Warrior had not advanced nearly as well.
Jim Ross also used to mock Hogan and his posing a lot in late 80's NWA. "NWA: We Wrestle."
Jesse Ventura mentioned Adrian Adonis on several occasions through the years on commentary.
Roddy Piper talked about Goldust shortly after his WCW debut.
Ole Anderson played a promo comp video on GCW around '83-'84 showing their guys beating up Hogan, Iron Sheik, and I think maybe Bundy. The rationale offered was to show that smaller guys could beat up bigger guys.
In the AWA, Jerry Lawler made several challenges to Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair to wrestle him to see who the true World champion was, and then claimed victory by forfeit when they didn't respond.

Any other instances? Stu Hart never actually wrestled for the WWF, did he? ;-) When Kerry makes his debut on SNME, Vince says he's from one of wrestling's greatest families. And if we're including vague references to other promotions too...any time Gorilla called someone a veteran or that they had credentials. When both Greg Valentine and Roddy Piper arrived, there was a Piper's Pit where the two mention they had history together, but now respect one another. The "Hey, aren't you?" tagline in Dusty Rhodes' vignettes. Gorilla continuing to mention Moondog King during the Hogan Era, when the team was just Rex and Spot. I think Terry Funk did a local promo burying the NWA when he was in the WWF the first time. Can we count the Wrestling News Network on NWA/WCW Power Hour, and Joe Pedicino's news segments on Global? As they discussed other companies' news and angles. Some syndicated WCW shows in the 90s tended to do this. Jim Ross, when Lex Luger won the WCW title, wondered what a Luger vs. Hulk Hogan (then the WWF champion for the third time of course) match would be like.

At Summerslam 1998, because there was that ladder match on the card, there was a reference to Shawn Michaels vs. Razor Ramon at Wrestlemania X. On the pre-show, there was footage shown, but no full look at Scott Hall's face.

Like intentional commentary flub on a late 1998/early 1999 WWF show introducing a Gillberg bit, between JR and King I think.
´Next up is Goldberg.’
´You mean Gillberg?’
´Aren’t they the same thing?’
